my day: let me show you it

So, at seven this morning I pulled myself out of the drug-induced sleep coma I put myself in by taking 23948290348 allergy pills last night around eleven. I got dressed, made lunch, stumbled around the kitchen and eventually made it out to my car and drove to work where I punched in and started going about my business. I saw that a note had been left for Manager C on top of the daily schedule, and glanced at the daily schedule as I left to give it to him.

The schedule said I wasn't on until noon. That was odd, but mistakes on the daily schedule aren't unheard of, so I ignored it and went to give him the note, but for some reason I decided to check the master schedule on my way. Lo and behold, I wasn't supposed to be in until noon.

I gave the manager his note and then collected my tissue box, purse, and car keys and returned home to sleep for another three hours.

When I got back to The Bookstore three and a half hours later, the back cart was out and Coworker D was still shelving from it, something that is normally done long before the 12pm person comes in.

"You would not believe the morning I've had," she said.

Apparently, because she rarely works Tuesdays (I usually open and Coworker L usually mids) she stayed up late and didn't realize she needed to be in. I thought something was fishy when I clocked out that morning, because it was already ten past eight and Coworker D is rarely (if ever) late. I almost stopped and had Manager C call her and ask if she wanted to switch, but in the end the allure of three extra hours of sleep was too much.

The day proceeded onward from there in typical Bookstore fashion. I finished one book and started another. I helped people find what they were looking for. I displayed a startling knowledge of kids' lit. I ate lunch.

I started this post about two and a half hours ago. Right after I typed the above, we decided to go out for dinner for a fundraiser for my old high school. Then we went to Michael's to get some supplies for my Storytime tomorrow. Then we went to my grandmother's house. Now we're home and I want to watch some teevee before sleep.

So, I'm doing Storytime tomorrow. My last one wasn't great, but I have better books this time and better crafts. The downside, of course, is that I am dying of allergies and sneezing my head off. We'll see how it goes. The theme is Princesses and Knights and I'm reading Falling for Rapunzel, Good Night, Good Knight, The Paperbag Princess, The Knight and the Dragon and King Bidgood's in the Bathtub. We're making crowns and coloring in paper shields I stole from a Narnia activity kit. I'm going to make my examples now.

There was something else I wanted to write about, but I can't remember what. I read a book called Wrecked today, which is about a girl who gets into a car accident that kills her brother's girlfriend. I thought it was incredibly well done, even if it's not normally the kind of book that I'd pick up. I might say more later.

I also started the Chrestomanci (I think that's spelled right) series, which moonsheen is very fond of. I didn't get very far, but I am intrigued.

Okay, time to color and watch teevee.
