books and stuff
So, I'm dying of unspecified sickness, which sucks, especially since I had to go in earlier than usual today and am opening for the rest of the week. LAME >:O
Anyway, I did finish Skulduggery Pleasant: Playing With Fire! I enjoyed it very much and after only waiting a month for the second book, I'm going to DIE waiting for the third. I thought it was witty and well-paced. There were several places where I nearly laughed out loud that I wanted to quote here, but most of them contain spoilers for major events in the first two books, so I'm restraining myself. I just love Skulduggery and Valkyrie's rapport, though. I like how it's developed in this book and I really like how human Valkyrie still is. It's easy to forget, when she's running around chasing evil, that she's a thirteen year old girl, but things like her resentment about wearing a dress and her conflicted thoughts about her reflection really drive her age and relative inexperience home for the reader.
I loved the use of China, although I think Landy could have used Bliss better. I wish there was more closure on all the shady business with Guild, but I understand that's going to be an ongoing plot arc. I liked Jack and I swear I will have nightmares about The Torment and his damn spiders. UGH. SPIDERS.
But seriously, it was awesome and you should all totally read these books so we can talk about them.

I'm freezing. For serious. So I think I need to take a shower and make a cup of tea and chase my parents out of the room so I can watch teevee in peace and chill out. I really need to clean, but I just feel too icky to bother today.
