Anyway, I promised recs yesterday, and of course I am going to deliver on that promise. Most of these you've probably seen by now, but I feel as though it's my duty to shove them down your throat anyway.
1. The Epic Tale of John&Rodney: Two Girl Scout Cookies In Love by bitter_crimson
Oh my GOD. They are GIRL SCOUT COOKIES. There are PHOTOS. THEY HAVE SEX. THERE ARE PHOTOS OF TWO GIRL SCOUT COOKIES HAVING SEX. I CAN'T EVEN EXPLAIN IN WORDS HOW AMAZINGLY CRACKTASTIC THIS IS. I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU DON'T HAVE THIS IN YOUR LIFE RIGHT THIS INSTANT.
2. Tabled podfic read by anatsuno (original story by runpunkrun here)
So, last year runpunkrun wrote a story for every day in March. This year, anatsuno is podficcing them all. And. Guys. Oh my god. This story is about John and Rodney fucking on a sentient table AND THE PODFIC IS EVEN BETTER. She does a VOICE and it's just AMAZING AND PERFECT AND HILARIOUS.
Last night moonsheen and I were trying to figure out what is in the water in this fandom. We settled on "the best stuff ever." I want to crawl into this fandom and live there forever. THESE TWO THINGS HAPPENED ON THE SAME DAY. BEST FANDOM EVER.
Okay, sobering up now, for the nice stories.
3. The Other's Each by ladycat777
After "Outcast," John runs away from his family and straight to Rodney's. He spends some time with the Millers and it's just achey and soft and muted and perfect. She weaves all sorts of connections between John and his family and Jeannie and hers and brings it all together at the end with John and Rodney. My favorite part is how clear Rodney's personality is there in Jeannie and Madison. She does in words what Kate and David are wonderful at doing without words, which is making it clear that Jeannie and Rodney are, at the end of the day, cut from the same cloth.
4. Tale, Theorem, Promise, Plea by sheafrotherdon
I want to call this gen teamfic, but... well, it's about four mothers who birth four children who will one day become each other's family. It's so, so beautiful. Even though they're all simply infants, there's so much of each of them infused into the story and so many insights into who they are. It's a sweet, wonderful read that will make you want to go out and cuddle someone afterwards.
5. the day the music died by kaydee_falls
TWW genfic. The subtitle explains it best: eight kinds of days it could have been. Eight drabbles about the end of season one and how things would be different if each character had died in the shooting. It's an achey read, but worth it. The Charlie one was particularly painful for me.
6. Patches is consistantly super funny recently.
7. Not a fic: A pretty hilarious Wonkette post about The X-Files and the Bush Administration.
I think my favorite thing was in the comments: "Smoking Man/Alex Krychek '08: Slightly Less Evil Than The Current Administration!"
