So, there's a lot of hysteria on my f-list right now, and people getting alternately angry and weepy over something that I do not know anything about and am not remotely interested in. I am just strangely confused, because--and maybe this is my fandom age showing, seeing as how I've been doing fandom things for over a decade, now--this is what

I think the problem for some people is that they get enough shit for being fans of the bands OUTSIDE of fandom and thus when people do it who are also in fandom it's kind of . . . More upsetting? Or something. I don't know, certain parts of the post were actually really interesting to me and certain parts made me kind of upset, and I'm not even that emotionally invested (she says, thinking of a shirt to make for the concerts in November). I mean, I have to censor my words around some people because they vehemently dislike the bands. And I'm willing to do it, it's not like I don't censor myself in other ways. But. Other people hating on your fandom is kind of a new fandom ritual (which, the fandom actually isn't that new, but the explosion of people is), but it's a little different when some of those people are your friends or people you thought were kind of cool. Much like how I miss Fred Thompson being on L&O, because that would be FAR BETTER THAN HIS STUPID PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDACY.

ahaahah, yeah, I haven't read it, and, to be honest, I don't care all that much except that my f-list is literally filled with people bemoaning the fact that bandom has made it to f_w (because I guess being on fandom_wank means... I don't even know what. It means that other people agree that there are stupid people in your fandom?) or that people said this or crying because bandom means something to them and people are demeaning it.

And, I mean, I literally have almost no clue what's going on, except to say that people should calm down and look at pictures of dinosaurs.
