I'm telling you, I do actually write other things besides Takabu...>>; This is the fifth one-shot in a self proclaimed challenge (which is to write a fic for each member. Using words off my desktop wallpaper, which is a pretty heart made out of words. 8D) Next up is Daiki~ ♥

It was amazing, really, how dependent they were of Yabu Kouta. He wasn't their leader, not officially. But they all went to him for everything. Of course, Yabu and Hikaru had bff time. Inoo needed his confidence booster and his nighttime calls. Chinen needed someone to pet him when he got bruises. Ryutaro needed someone to save his sanity. Daiki would need someone to reassure him that being short wasn't a bad thing. Someone had to keep Yuto from killing himself. Someone had to keep Yamada from exhausting himself. Someone had to keep Keito from getting upset over mistakes.

Even Takaki needed him, clinging to him for strength, for comfort. Yabu was one of their pillars, their strength. He was always the one there with the towel, the smile, the warmth. They clung to him, needing every little thing he offered.

Takaki had always admired Yabu. When he'd joined the company, he'd be standing in the background, peeking out and listening to Yabu singing, wishing he could be just a little more like him, because everyone loved Yabu and he was always there.

They grew up, Takaki always trailing after Yabu. They really hadn't been that close to each other before debuting, but once the shock wore off, Takaki came to be rather close to Yabu, still retaining that slightly fanboyish admiration.

He wished he could be more like Yabu. Yabu was strong and cool and talented. He could do all those things that Takaki just couldn't. Envy and admiration.

He supposed that's why they all relied on him. To everyone, he really was their leader. He was also the oldest (even if he only had about two months on Takaki, he was still older) and they clung to him.

Reflecting on it, Takaki realized how selfish they all had been. They just kept on taking Yabu's strength, not even pausing to think of what Yabu might need. It hadn't ever occurred to him...

He realized his mistake one day. Everyone had already left and he was about to leave as well when he suddenly remembered that he'd left his hat and jacket in the dressing room. Slapping his forehead in frustration, he wheeled around, dashing back to grab them.

Takaki hadn't expected to open the door to find Yabu crying, curled up, face hidden, his shoulders shaking from sobs. He froze, staring as Yabu jerked upright, fighting to control himself, trying to hide obvious evidence of his tears. His puffy red eyes, the streaks down his cheeks, the shaking of his fingers.

Takaki just stared, half amazed, half horrified.

For the longest time, Yabu had just seemed to be this strong, impenetrable person. He didn't cry. He didn't need anybody, not like Takaki did.

Still frozen, just watching Yabu, all flustered and upset, Takaki thought back on it. Thought back on all the times that Yabu had been there to hold him when he broke down in tears, when Yabu would stay on the phone for as long as Takaki needed, when he'd been upset over filming, hurt over teasing, anything.

Yabu had always been strong for him, letting Takaki cling to him whenever he'd needed it.

Who did Yabu cling to? Did Yabu cry to anyone when he was falling apart, hurting so much he couldn't breathe properly because his chest was a black hole?

Somehow Takaki didn't think so. He felt so disgusting. He'd always just taken everything Yabu had offered, he'd held onto him, selfishly demanding everything...and Yabu had always given it to him.

His feet moved without him expecting them to, stumbling slightly as he made his way over to the couch. Yabu just sat there, still very upset and now embarrassed at his tears, though they still fell, no matter how hard he tried to wipe them away.

Wordlessly, Takaki pulled the other into a hug, wrapping his arms around him. There were no words for this moment...

Yabu didn't pull away. He buried himself into Takaki's embrace, face hidden in the younger's shoulder, the sobs coming back in full. Takaki held him for what felt like an eternity, just stroking his hair and murmuring little words of comfort. But he didn't mind it and he didn't pull away until Yabu's tears faded away.

They didn't say anything. Takaki didn't ask what had happened. He just took Yabu's hand and gently tugged him off the couch, smiling because everything was going to be okay. There were tears but Takaki thought ice cream could fix it all. At least for now.

“Yuuyan...?”

Takaki glanced at his leader, smiling. “Mm?”

“Thank you.”

Takaki shook his head, hesitating before leaning over to kiss Yabu's cheek. “There's no need to thank me...”

He hoped Yabu didn't try to hide his tears from him again. Takaki could only think how it had felt to be the one being clung to...He clung to Yabu for things...Yabu could hold onto him as well.
