In Where Murphy Repeatedly Beats Me With His Law Book

What a week.
First of all, I found out that my math teacher is leaving us mid way through the semester. This has me especially bummed because he is the only math teacher that I've ever really liked. He seems to really enjoy his job, and he's a really good teacher. I've never actually understood algebra so well. He's got a quirky sense of humor, which he integrates into his teaching, and he's incredibly philosophical about teaching math. He works at a regular pace, but he's not one to embarrass or criticize if you need him to slow down. Also, he's very trusting when it comes to homework. Rather than assigning numbers he assigns a time limit: do about an hour to an hour and a half of work, or at least enough to feel confident with the section. That's a big deal to me because I get to spend enough time really understand the few problems, rather than panicking because it's been 4 hours and I've only done 16 problems and Istillhave50leftholycrapI'mgoingtodie! I'm really going to miss him, the new prof is going to have very large shoes to fill, damnit.

On Tuesday, Eric and I had just woken up from a nap at his place, when we heard a car accident outside. It was just a loud crash, no squealing tires or honking horns. We, like good nosy neighbors, decided to go outside to investigate, when we noticed it was my dad getting out of one of the cars. Wha?? Turned out he was cresting the hill on Glendale Blvd, looked over and saw my car parked at Eric's apt, and when he looked back there was a car stopped in front of him waiting to make a left turn. It was much too late for him to stop and he rear-ended her. His car suffered only a little compared to hers: the trunk was completely collapsed against the backseats. Thankfully nobody was hurt, but Dad had been planning a trip out of town this weekend, and was going to cancel. Fortunately, I advised him to buy a battery for the van and just camp out in the back of it for his trip. He had been excited to use his camper again, but he knew that at least half-assing his trip would be better than sitting at home and dwelling.
This weekend I had exciting plans: a concert Friday night and/or book signing and Chrissy, Ish, Eric and I were planning on going to the Queen Mary haunt on Saturday night. Pomplamoose is a band that record out of their living room, and finally decided to do a mini west coast tour. Bummer #1: Unfortunately I had to wait until two days before the concert to buy the tickets and by that time they'd sold out. I hope they tour again, so I decided I'd join Roxy and Jane at the Brian Selznick book signing instead. Bummer #2: Found out that Jane got the info wrong and he wouldn't be signing. Damn damn damn. Bummer 3#: Earlier that day Chrissy and I had been looking for the tickets to the Queen Mary Haunt and found out that they were $10 more expensive that we previously thought, so her and Ish opted out. I remembered Eric complaining about the price, so I assumed that he wouldn't want to fork up an extra $10, and I wasn't going to do this alone. I tried to cure my doldrums by drinking an entire bottle of Charles Shaw and watching Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, considering I'd just finished the audiobook. I drunk tweeted a lot through out the movie:

@Pocketofgreen: Normally the fifth Harry Potter movie kinda pisses me off because they changed so much. After some wine though...

@Pocketofgreen: Legilimency lessons- Harry to Snape: We've been at it for hours, couldn't we rest for a bit?
#thatswhatshesaid

@Pocketofgreen: @r_a_black: i've come to the conclusion that watching OotP is like reading really sloppy cliff notes of the book.

@Alfonso_h: @pocketofgreen hahahaha! FYI Gandalf is a better wizard. #lordoftherings beats #harrypotter

@Pocketofgreen: @alfonso_h psssh Dumbledore's so epic he needs two actors to play him. #winning

@Pocketofgreen: Ooooh Dumbledore ain't lettin' nobody take him to Azkaban #likeaboss

@Pocketofgreen: It's always a bad idea to read/listen-to the book just before watching the movie. #foreverdisappointed

@Pocketofgreen: NOOOO SIRIUS NOOOO! #HP5

@Pocketofgreen: Aw shoot, Charles Shaw gave me the hiccups #possiblydrunk?

I'm quite proud of my grammar despite how drunk I was.

It was entertaining, but I was still in bad mood and little upset at Eric for not coming to my rescue when I complained about my botched weekend. The next day though, in amidst a hazy hangover, Eric asked me how much extra the tickets would be. I said the total would be $34 instead of $24. As it turned out, he originally thought they were $34 and had agreed to pay that to initially. He flew in and rescued my weekend like a good boyfriend, despite my emo, defeatest attitude.

Also my internet is down at home. I don't know how I'll survive the weekend.
Edit: Internet was fixed after calling AT&T and waiting all weekend to have a repairman come out and jiggle the jack that had come loose. #fail
