The staff meeting for Otaku Omaha was pretty informative. I really can't wait until things start moving. I have a lot of hopes that it will be a good year for the convention. I was really nervous about going to the meeting... but I recognized half of them from the con and the Cosplay on the Market, so I was able to relax. Being located at the Mid America Center is going to be a blessing and a pain. Bigger rooms at an expensive cost... and a few rules that are going to be stifling. Being held over the 4th of July might also be a hindrance since it is a con with a lower age average... but given it was either that or be held during the College World Series, I think they made the best choice. If anyone has any ideas where I might be able to leave fliers for the con, let me know. It sounds like the local comic shops are covered and one girl was going to be hitting a Panera and Barnes & Noble. I'm not really sure what other type of locations normally have places people can stick up fliers.
It looks like I'll be wearing my Amy Sorel costume on the Saturday for Nebraskon. Depending on how the wig goes, I'm really tempted to enter her into the costume contest. Now if only my wig stand would arrive so I could START working on the wig. I'm pretty nervous about the whole thing... I'm going to be doing some complicated styling. I'll be adding extra wefts into the back of the wig, pull it into two pigtails, stub it (which involves chopping it off just past the rubber band and then coating it in caulk), add extensions onto the stub, curl the extensions and then sew the curl to itself. Yea, plenty of reason to be antsy about getting started.
