au contraire to your first paragraph:
I think of new acquaintances as jellybeans. I can process surface traits and take a guess at the flavor, but I never really know what my taste buds are in for until I take a bite. Impressions from a distance matter little. The whole world could know of me, but it means much more to be truly known, to be tasted, chewed, swallowed, and digested.
