Laura Knaperek wrote me back in regards to my email concerning Arizona's spousal rape bill refusal last Thursday.

Thanks for your attention to this issue and your common sense approach. I pride
myself in using that same kind approach. I am not a "headline policy maker".
Instead, I read the bill for what it says, and listen to good, solid information
and testimony before I decide my vote.
It is always up to the proponents of a piece of legislation to make their case,
not the media.
I have made a commitment to review the issue again after session and work on a
solution for next session. That way I can learn more about the problem and get
the right stakeholders around the table to hammer out a solid bill for next
session.
I did enjoy reading your blog. And, yes, it was a little colorful.
