Reiri could smell her in the air. More precisely, the vampire could smell the blood. This was a tricky situation for her. Her natural vampire instincts tell her to hunt down the source and feed while her medic side told her that she needed to help the person. Since Reiri didn't know if this bleeding person could be useful or not, she ventured on the safe side and decided to help. This person could be a valuable ally in the future after all.
The shadows were swaying in the light when Reiri stepped out of the nearest one to Chandra. While it appeared as if she teleported, the vampire truly dispersed her molecules and absorbed all the light energy to propel her atoms to the general area of the injured woman.
Kneeling beside the fallen woman, the young medic listened for a pulse and blood pressure. 'Exhaustion from the sounds of it," thought the medic. The large gash on Chandra's forehead wasn't that severe. It could be bandaged off easily. Reaching into her medic bag and pulling out some gauze, the slight girl wrapped the dressing around the woman's head wound.
"Now, let's get you to the infirmary. Unfortunately for you, I'm the only medic on the ship so you're stuck in my care," laughed Reiri humorlessly. She could already see the pain of being the only medic on this ship if people get themselves injured.
The vampire was able to carry the other woman to the nearest shuttle heading to the infirmary. Sitting with Chandra's head in her lap, Reiri continued to check the other woman's vitals.
[OOC: I don't know when you want Chandra to wake up. She can either wake up here on the shuttle or in a bed at the infirmary.]
Chandra awoke to find herself very much not dead- this is good, she thought- and resting comfortably in a bed somewhere. Her head still throbbed where she'd hit it, but the wound was now covered with a bandage. She was still tired, the 'walk having sapped her of most of her strength- but her first instinct was to think she was safe for the time being. Although she didn't recognize any of the instruments and was slightly put off by the appearance of the room, there wasn't anything she decided was an immediate threat.
Better than where I've ended up before when showing up on a random plane, she thought.
"W-what is this place?" Chandra asked, sounding obviously parched. "Can I get some water?"
Reiri was looking around at the infirmary. It was sterile white everywhere like many other hospitals she has been in. That sterility made her feel out of place. The vampire was a creature of the night and the night was anything but sterile. The night was full of unseen life.
Upon hearing the weak words, Reiri walked towards the curtained off room. Along the way, the medic picked up a pitcher of water and a cup. Taking a peek through the curtains to see if Chandra was wake or just talking in her sleep, Reiri parted the curtains and smiled at the other woman.
"Welcome. You're on a space colony called Pluto IX. I found you unconscious in a hallway and brought you here to the infirmary. My name is Reiri Kamura and I am a medic of this ship." Reiri technically is the head medic but that title loses meaning when she is the only medic.
Pouring a cup of water, the medic offered it to Chandra. "You sound parched. Here is some water. Drink it slowly."
Chandra nodded, and took the water from Reiri. A quick glance and sniff at the cup revealed nothing, and she drank. It was clean, and cold- probably the best thing she'd had in days. The pyromancer finished the first glass, then poured herself another.
"Thank you, Reiri- but...what's a space colony?"
She'd never seen anything like this place in her life- it was totally different from the monastery and any of the planes she'd visited. Almost unnatural, she thought, but if they could offer her clean water and medical care instead of what usually happened when she arrived on a new plane she'd take it for now. Chandra had never seen technology like this short of the Izzet creations on Ravnica, and it was obvious that the people here had mastered something. Maybe fire magic would be on the list too...
Usually, Chandra would be at her usual- demanding answers and making threats- but she wasn't about to ruin what seemed like a perfectly good opportunity to get a comfortable bed and some food by lighting the place on fire in an attempt to get information. Reiri seemed nice enough, but Chandra would still have to be on her guard.
Reiri smiled when Chandra sniffed the cup. This woman definitely came from a place where a person couldn't be too careful. The vampire came from such as world and felt an affinity to fighters like them.
Taking a quick sniff at Chandra, Reiri could smell the natural power within the woman. 'This person could be interesting,' thought the medic as she listened to the question.
"A space colony is very much like a giant ship. This ship sails through the stars instead of the seas or oceans. It is also big enough to house a few thousand people."
Reiri knew the ship was more than that but it was better to give small tidbits of information. The medic needed to be on her guard too since this woman might be trouble.
"Pleasure to meet you, Chandra Nalaar. Are you hungry? I can bring you something to eat to help you regain some of your strength."
Food. Food would be great, Chandra thought, nodding almost impatiently at the mention of something to eat. It seemed like this place would have a restaurant or something- good for her, as she was useless at cooking. Most everything she tried to make tended to come out more than a little burnt.
"Hope it's not grub soup...it's a long story. So there are other people here? I'm looking for a man named Ramaz, and anyone who gets in the way of me finding him's in for a really bad time."
Her tone changed slightly at the mention of the mad shaman, more anger and determination at finding the man than simple annoyance. Ramaz had been the start of all her troubles lately, and she planned on giving him a proper sendoff- complete with fireworks.
Chandra adjusted the goggles that sat atop her head and ran a hand through her hair- not so much to straighten it, but to make sure she wasn't giving Reiri a very obvious cue to what secret she might be hiding. Chandra hoped the medic hadn't yet figured out that there was something different about her, as she'd started to pick up a slightly familiar vibe of her own about the girl.
Something about you feels familiar, Chandra thought. Call it just a spark, but I feel like I've been around someone like you before.
"Reiri, how did you end up finding me? I don't remember anyone being around..."
Reiri almost laughed when Chandra said grub soup. The vampire was definitely familiar with what could be made into food for humans when they are low in supplies. However, Reiri kept a neutral smile.
"I do not believe the soup is made out of grub. I will check just in case," said the medic amusingly. "As for your... friend?" It wasn't difficult for Reiri to pick up on the tone in Chandra's voice and that tone wasn't friendly. "I do not believe a man named Ramaz has been brought on board."
The vampire wasn't threatened by the implication of what the other woman would do if people got in her way. Reiri has dealt with the Royals and those aristocrats did not take no for an answer.
Smiling, Reiri replied, "The ship does have cameras in every hallway to ensure the safety of the inhabitants. We wouldn't want someone dangerous sneaking abroad the ship." The medic motioned to a camera in the main section of the infirmary. Chandra might as well be aware that there are eyes everywhere on Pluto so the woman wouldn't do anything foolish.
"Thanks. Wouldn't want to get stuck eating that again. I hate bugs," Chandra laughed, still on her guard. "If Ramaz is here, I'll find him and get what I came for. That's all. I'm not dangerous- I don't hurt innocents on purpose."
Though I did once...she thought, her face going pale at the images that flashed through her mind. Their screams, the smell of burning flesh, my family, the blade at my throat...
Although the Fire had accepted her with a clean soul for accepting her guilt, there were lingering memories that accompanied such emotions. Sometimes they were easy to control, but in her weakened state they were free to surface. Chandra wasn't the best at controlling her emotions, and that combined with the stress of the journey here-
Rage overcame composure, and Chandra felt herself forging a connection with some kind of mana source- it wasn't at all strong, but enough for her hair to start to glow with a hint of flame.
"I dislike bugs myself," agreed Reiri. What she really meant was that she disliked all those arthropod gods. If she never had to deal with that spider god again, she wouldn't be shedding any tears. Reiri's expression remained neutral. She understood well enough. "Hurting innocents on purpose was never the part that gnaws on your soul; its the innocents who were hurt in the crossfire of battle," muttered Reiri. She glanced away for a second to relive all those bloody wars she was a part of.
The vampire could smell the fire magic. Being this close, she could taste it. That surge of eternal flame. It wasn't as piercing as the phoenix fire of Princess Hime but it compelled her nonetheless.
Reiri had to clamped down tight on her emotions and will herself to stay solid. Drawing the curtain closed and blocking the camera from seeing into the room, the medic decided to test the waters a little with her current patient. "It might be a good idea to keep yourself in control of your emotions. We would not want you to burn yourself out like a wildfire."
Reiri hoped she was right about this woman and her connection to the fire magic. Otherwise, she might have sounded crazy.

The innocents hurt in the crossfire of battle...
Those words resounded in Chandra's head, making her tense suddenly and still her breath. That was years ago, and you've accepted it. You entered the Fire with a clean soul, and walked out alive. Mother would tell me to calm myself and focus my energy. Gideon would probably just sit there and say nothing because-
Chandra went pale, pausing for a moment.
Jura...you followed me and for what? The Order? Your own gain? Why?
As if the very thought of the hieromancer was as intrusive as his presence itself would be, Chandra's hair burst into flame. It wouldn't hurt her or anything around her, but it was probably more than a little late to try and hide what she was.
Whatever was causing her to be able to connect to a mana source felt close- as if it was searing its presence into her skin. She felt the familiar pull of Regatha's mountains and the energy that surged through them, a feeling that was too enjoyable to ignore. Feels like home, she thought, thankful her mana gear was intact after the fall.
She hadn't even noticed Reiri had left the room, but could tell she was somewhere close.
"So I guess you've been in a few battles yourself, Reiri. Care to explain?"
The power of the magical fire filled the room with its energy. Reiri could feel it surrounding her. She was glad she pulled the curtains closed when she did. It would have been troublesome to have the cameras recording Chandra's hair bursting into flame. While she didn't feel the heat, the vampire felt the magic radiating from the woman.
Sighing, Reiri turned to speak. "I thought as much. Pyromancer or Phoenix? Either way, you need to be careful not to do... that in public. Some of these people are not familiar with abilities like that."
Taking a seat near Chandra, the vampire might as well relate some of her story with the woman. "I was a field medic during the first Royal civil war. It was... unpleasant for all involved. It was worse for the people who got dragged into the war. Innocent people who just wanted to live their lives in peace."
Reiri didn't get into the part where the vampire society ended up slaughtering hundreds of thousands of people in their claim for power. She also didn't mention how many people she had to kill along the way. Reiri always worked for the "greater good" and that term is a very grey area. If the greater good required a slaughter of a mountain full of people, so be it.
Chandra listened to the medic's story, noting that maybe they had something in common besides being on this space colony. She took a deep breath and managed to extinguish her hair, but felt as if it could return at any moment.
"Innocent people who just wanted to live their lives in peace- I know a little about that. My village, Keral Keep- they were in danger because of me. I never meant to hurt them, but people were so afraid of what I am that they needed to fight it."
Chandra's anger had subsided a bit. She spoke softly, her voice hinting at a mix of sorrow, remorse, and bitterness. It wasn't her fault she had power over fire- she'd had that since she was a child- and it wasn't her fault that people felt the need to ban or restrict it. Chandra, like the flames she was able to summon, desired freedom.
"I'm a pyromancer, if you hadn't figured it out. I mean, my hair was on fire. But I can only really do it if I'm able to draw from a mana source. Don't think there are any of those around here..."
Except the one small source I was able to connect to, but I can't seem to find it, she thought. What could it be?
Reiri was solemn for a moment as Chandra spoke. She too knew what it was like for people to be afraid of what she was. Vampires were thought of as bloodsucking demons who killed indiscriminately. Some vampires might be like that but Reiri preferred not to hurt the innocent if at all possible. Even when she needed to feed on an innocent, the vampire only took enough as to not kill them. Unless they deserved to die for the greater good.
"I figured you were a pyromancer or possibly a phoenix in human guise," acknowledged the medic but Chandra's next statement left Reiri puzzled. "A mana source? Like a mountain?"
Reiri stopped herself. She didn't really know if Chandra's abilities are like those of the spellcasters in her world. In her world, magic was drawn from the spiritual world and stored in tomes and mystical items. Fire magic, to be specific, would be drawn from the fire spirits in mountains and stored in items by a sage.
"Well, I can make a phoenix if I really want to. I'm just a human that likes to play with fire," Chandra laughed. Reiri's reaction to her story told her the medic was probably hiding secrets of her own, but decided not to pry much as there was no real reason. "I've been able to do this since I was a child, but only really started to learn how to control it a few years ago. And yeah, I draw it from the mountains, kind of."
Chandra couldn't tell if Reiri was fishing for information or just making conversation, but she decided it was better if she didn't reveal too much about herself. Especially not the "planeswalking" part- usually, when someone figured out she was capable of that, it ended with an attempt on her life and probably a giant explosion.
"How do you know about pyromancers? They have them where you're from?"
Reiri listened carefully as Chandra talked. She knew people like Chandra before and knew that Chandra was probably keeping some things secret like the medic was. It was not relevant to pry too deeply into the other woman's past.
Reiri listened for anyone nearby. The two women were alone and no one else was close by. The vampire decided to at least even the playing grounds a bit. She wouldn't be revealing the vampire part but a skill she has.
Moving her hand slightly, the vampire re-arranged the air molecules around the pitcher of water. Absorbing the ambient light, the air around the pitcher grew darker and started lifting the pitcher towards the other woman.
"The world I come from has many assortments of creatures and people. Some people can do things other people can't."
[ooc: Its not dark magic she is using. Its more like air or wind magic since she manipulates the air itself. She just converting the energy from reflected light into kinetic energy if that makes sense.]
Chandra watched as the pitcher appeared to levitate and move towards her, taking the object out of thin air. Nothing about its movement seemed sinister- it was just as if Reiri could use the energy around them to move things.
"Bet that's useful," she said, taking a hold of the object once it neared her. "Same thing with my world- have you ever met a goblin? They're disgusting, at least where I'm from. The elves are okay, but burn down a forest trying to kill one ghost warden and you'll have a ton of ouphes trying to make sure you're dead."
The pyromancer laughed.
"...it was really more like half a forest, and I still killed that ghost warden. As long as you're not a mind mage, we won't have a problem."
Having the pitcher basically handed to her, Chandra poured another glass of water and sipped it. She felt much better than she did when she first arrived, and was almost ready to see what this place had in store. So what if Ramaz isn't here? I could use some real rest without Mother breathing down my neck...
"Where can I get a bed and some food? I'm starving."
