A simple firearm could puncture a hole in the ship. That would not be good for anyone.

Is that so? Perhaps this future isn't nearly as advanced as I had imagined...in any case would there be a problem in the return of my weapon without it's ammunition? A gun can't be used without ammo and without ammo the gun is merely a display piece.

A person can easily make ammunition which common items around the ship. SO the answer would be no.

...Normally I'd rebuttal in stating that if that was the case, you would be having a wild west recreation every day here, which if I'm not mistaken is not so much the case, but seeing as I'm not going to win, I shall depart and thank you for the time.

Doubt it. The puncture of any number of things could probably ruin parts of the ship for any number of time.

Not particularly, but really, even simple things can out-do a technological marvel with luck. I think its more a precaution than anything else.

A sad but true fact. Nonetheless I am not too pleased to be under the assumption that I would scrounge for materials to create bullets...Truly my gun would not appreciate that...nor would I.
