Another year, another Diwali

Oct 18, 2009 00:47

This was the first Diwali I was celebrating back home in three years. We had a nice day and I think my favourite part of this festival is how low-key it is for us. Of course it's pretty loud in India what with the funtastic fireworks but it's still a low-key festival. In a good way. To me it's always been about getting new clothes (materialism), ( Read more... )

Happy belated Diwali to you too.

Legal writing is HARD, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. What you have going for you is that you're basically a good writer. What you now need to realize is that legal writing isn't meant to be interesting, it's meant to be concise. Be redundant, be boring, but stick to the rules and the general format they give you, and you won't go wrong. For real.

It sucks that legal writing is the class that gets the lowest priority in school, but it's the most important skill you'll get in the next three years, so it's worth the effort...even if the initial feedback leaves a lot to be desired.

Hang in there. It gets better, I promise. (Meanwhile, let me know if there's anything you need from me, ok?)

That WRC meeting was seriously the best thing ever. Plus I've had a bunch of other cases for this second memo that explain the rules so much more clearly. I felt like either I didn't read the previous cases well or they just badly explained the rules. I dunno which is which.

But i finished with my draft for my second meeting tomorrow, so that makes me happy. And yeah, legal writing is the hardest class but my prof makes it fun and she's really good about helping us out. at least for that, I try to not begrudge it too much, lol.

Thank you, I trust you when you say it gets better. You are my guiding light when it comes to law school! Ooh so i won a study aid for coming to the extra Insights class, and I got a flowchart book for all the first year courses. I still need to read "Getting to Maybe" - bad me! - but that's starting this week. For sure.

Hope all is well and that you feel better! Will catch up with you soon!
