...still ticking...

ok, i'm alive.

i havent publically updated in freaking ages (not like i fl stuff often either tho)...0_0;. but anyway, recap for november...

bunkasai-

so i was deeply involved in the bunkasai this year, signing up my soul for a part in the big fashion show. since im in the stylist course, i didnt have much choice in what i wanted to do, so i picked the best of the lot and became a "dresser". we basically are the people who take care of the clothes and accessories backstage and help the model change into each outfit on time. i thought i would have a bit of free time while classes were cut short and we had a few holidays...HA! they had me hogtied for 11 days from 7am to 11pm nonstop... and most of that time was spent waaaaaiting. i had to cancel all my baito which made me poor, and all my business stuff which kicked me in the ass >_<
BUT! the show was pretty cool, the last scene (which is always the "best" that the haute couture students make) had the models in 16 centimeter platform heels and huuuuugely exaggerated dresses and suits made of arabian-inspired textiles. it was set up to kind of look like a wedding party. pretty cool stuff, gave me goosebumps everytime. japanese idolism reared its ugly head, though, the student "models" were treated like gods and everyone cowered at their feet and sucked so much ass their gums were bleeding. nearly every one was younger than me and while i totally respect them for putting in so much work for the show, i wanted to scream GROW UP! at all the little gaggling fanclubs. i didnt even go to any of the before or after-parties... i can think of so many more enriching activities to partake in.

the bunkasai show gave me great experience for working in the tokyo fashion week show i worked at though. at bunka in the stylist department, we get a lot of requests for student workers to do fashion shows all year round as dressers. i got a request to help at hiromichi nakano's show for tokyo fashion week (it was japan's first fashion *week* ever!). hiromichi was closing the week off and admittedly i had never really paid attention to this brand before so i was looking forward to seeing what was in store.

...the place was total chaos... the clothes were like circus costumes, everything was running late, the designer was a talento before turning to fashion so there were celebrities there (and kyon-kyon (read: koizumi kyoko) and hana-chan were actually *in* the show) and the top japanese models like caroline, an, anna, and la-la were there, and the other people from my school would NOT calm down. i just rolled my eyes and waited patiently while the head and assistant stylists bad-mouthed everyone. again, i chalk it up to experience, and it gives me fodder to talk about when meeting other industry insiders. as i was leaving, i even ran into jai west outside who was waiting for kyonkyon or hana i'm assuming which was totally random.

i literally *ran* straight from the show to omotesando to meet ken before heading to fashion night at velours. i met ken at the halloween party tera-san had at his press room a few weeks earlier. i got a call from shibuya about a party there but the trains weren't running so i just turned to this guy who was a good friend of tara's and was like "wanna go to a kickin party in shibuya?" and he was all 'sure, lets take my bike' and i got to ride a motorcylcle for the first time EVER from harajuku to shibuya. it was SO AWESOME, even though my legs hurt the next day (T_T) (BTW i went as an "android" for halloween- i got this kickass straight black bob wig and wore black with a miniskirt and lots of silver zippers and bright neon blue tights with red eyes..it was awesome!). so anyway, i called up ken and was like 'come to velours!' and he was all 'cool!' so we went to velours cuz this stylist nana-chan was doing a show which means the party-goers would actually be young and hip, even though ken was just getting off work in his suit and orange skin from vacationing in hawaii (business owners...hate em...>_>) . we missed the show by like 10 minutes, even though i saw the pics and it sucked anyway... i could have done so much better...

the party was great as usual, and i even ran into shogen, who is a good friend of liv's who was in the show. another really strange coincidence for the day! i also ran into ikesue-san who is the photographer at all these parties and he gave me a postcard of an exhibit he was doing of all his party pics and i was in a bunch of them! the exhibit was in tokyo and i didnt have time to get over there so i didnt get to see it, but i was totally in an exhibition where every picture of me is in a drunken state of glory! score! had to leave by last train which sucked cuz it was a good party and theres few and far between in tokyo these days T_T

...and this will have to be continued later (damn, i only got to nov. 9th! >_<)
