Becoming Jane, or What's Becoming My Daily Jane Austen Post
Hiya Janeite flisters and anyone else who might be interested!
Is anyone planning on checking out this new movie, Becoming Jane? It's historicized fiction (think Shakespeare in Love) and opens this Friday in the UK; August 3 in the US (more release dates here). Thus, it looks I won't be able to catch it in theatres which is a bit of a bummer since I'm actually curious (unlike my kicking and screaming when Shakespeare in Love came out, heh). From the looks of this spoilery review from one of the AustenBlog contributors, it looks like it's not total crap (sidenote: there's some interesting bits on the costuming, bird_mom and galadhir). The basic gist is Jane had a BF she almost married; future fodder for her novels?
So ... any early thoughts?
