Coda by Dorothy Parker
There's little in taking or giving,
There's little in water or wine;
This living, this living, this living
Was never a project of mine.
Oh, hard is the struggle, and sparse is
The gain of the one at the top,
For art is a form of catharsis,
And love is a permanent flop,
And work is the province of cattle,
And rest's for a clam in a shell,
So I'm thinking of throwing the battle-
Would you kindly direct me to hell?
I like Dorothy Parker. She wrote some very odd things. I'll possibly post some other things of hers later on, when I run out of other poems to post.
In case you needed to know I'm still embroiled in the 'Adventure, Excitement and Really Wild Things' of Arthur Dent, Ford Prefect and Zaphod Beeblebrox. It would be Trillian too, but we're in series two of the radio show, and Trillian's not in it much. (She gets a mention or two.) Also I'm trying to read fic, so if there's any really good Hitchhiker's Guide Fic that you know of please rec it to me.
Again, no idea how to sign off, so I'm not going to.
plum x.
P.S. I found some really great screencaps of David Dixon looking extrememly pretty and young, (and a few of him looking extremely pretty and not-so-young) and I am considering making icons (and/or possibly working out how to stalk him...) I may consider sharing them if anyone's interested...
