We've been to find a few caches in Ipswich since coming back from Northumberland, but with a lower success rate. The first trip in Ipswich was a complete failure - we were only looking for one cache, which is in the park near our house. The cycling race the Tour of Britain started its first leg in Ipswich down at the Waterfront area on Sunday, so we got up early and headed down there to have a look and to take a few photos. We went out to the big fireworks display in Ipswich last night, for the first year in aaaaaaages. I think last time we went we went with Gary, who we haven't seen since his wedding several years ago and the fireworks were a few years before that! The roadworks around about our bit of town continue in a fairly haphazard sort of way - they've put a crossing plus lights in at the junction up the road. While doing that they totally replaced the pavement across from us, and did a strip of the road next to the kerb. And vanished for a week or two. Yesterday was a bit of a day of ups & downs. Started pretty crappy as the council are doing major roadworks all around the local area & they picked 8am to start drilling up the road opposite our house & we hadn't planned to get up till 10am :/ Particularly annoying as about 5 minutes after we gave in & got up they stopped for an hour's tea break ( Read more... )

Ipswich Museum has recently re-done its Egyptian stuff, so as it was finally open again we went along yesterday to have a look. Previously it had been just a small, rather tatty, room with a few quite nice bits & pieces not very well displayed - but now they've done a good job with it :) The stuff is all in a bigger space, and much better lit & ( Read more... )
