I <3 veggies.

So I got my alternator changed this morning. I drove it around to bring back the old alternator and to work. So far, so good. And the battery light is off. There's something so satisfying by getting those stinkin lights to turn off.

Plus, it's nice to be able to turn on the heat and radio without fear of you being stranded next time you try to start the car.

The stinkin check engine light is still on, though. (Oh yeah, it came on last night as I was heading home from picking up the alternator. I almost started hyperventilating. ((Slight exaggeration. Slight.)) I took it as a bad omen, but the alternator issues seem to have been resolved. -knock on wood-) I had them check to see what the deal with that is. (Which they did for 40 freakin bucks. That junk pisses me off. It cannot be THAT expensive to hook a little computer thing up to my car to read off some codes.) Anyway, it's the spedometer, which does not surprise me as I've noticed it's been flaky. I'm lookin at $200 bucks to get that fixed.

(1) I don't care if the freakin spedometer is not working.
(2) Car won't pass inspection if the check engine light is on.
(3) I don't think I'm going to keep this car past April (when the inspection is due) in any case.

I asked the dude if the check engine light was still on. He said yes, that they had turned it off because the second I drove off the parking lot it would come back on.

This also pisses me off.

The freakin spedometer has been acting up for about a year now, and it just now triggered the check engine light. And furthermore, he about scared this other chick who brought in her car out of her wits talking about how DESPERATELY she needed new brakes and new rotors and how HORRIBLY UNSAFE it was for her to drive around without having them replaced. She sounded freaked out and said she couldn't afford it right now but he kept on about it.

Come on now. Okay, I can believe that she needs new brakes and stuff. But I seriously doubt they're *THAT BAD*. Leave the poor girl alone.

I should just become a freakin mechanic so I can know how my car is and when I'm being swindled. And furthermore, I'd open my own shop where I would NOT scare people out of their wits or overcharge them for parts or try to pressure them into things they don't need. It's so freakin wrong. Why are car repair places so notorious for this nonsense?

-sigh-

Props to Advance Auto Parts though. They were at least straight with me and checked and installed my battery for free.

Jeremy's going to be out of town for a few days. :( I miss him already. I may get whiny.

And then he's gonna be working on Saturdays. :(

-hides in my hoodie-

car drama, jeremy
