Who: Elphaba and Ford Where: Elphie's room, and probably somewhere else When: A day after this What: Elphie is determined to stay away from Ford... Let's see how long that lasts.
"'Barely alive'?" Ford said. "I know exactly what I'm doing, thank you. I destroyed one of the cars in there and I was perfectly fine afterwards!"
He waited until she closed the door and then took off again.
"Watch this," he told her, speeding towards the horizon at the vehicle's maximum speed.
As soon as the hotel disappeared from his rearview mirror, it reappeared over the horizon in front of them. He didn't slow down, instead swerving wildly as they approached the building, just missing a corner of it.
He laughed. "You can do that all day!" he told her. "It's always there no matter what direction you go in!"
Elphie braced herself the moment she had closed the door. This time, she was prepared for the lurch as the car shot forward. She allowed herself to relax a bit and enjoy the thrill that was coursing through her system. That is, until he went straight for the hotel. She covered her eyes with her hands and didn't uncover until she had counted to 20... figuring that was as much time as it would take to hit the structure. They hadn't! She let out a whoop of laughter and turned to Ford, "You're really good at this!" Nice and eloquent...
Spacehopper... some sort of travel in the skies... right. Elphie didn't have much else to say. The thrill of riding this fast in a vehicle along with Ford was enough for her brain to take in at the moment, so she just sat back and enjoyed it.
Ford drove them over the horizon a few more times, then steered expertly back into the garage.
He threw off his seatbelt, ready to bound enthusiastically out of the car. "Come on," he told her as he opened the door. "I'll show you the hoverskiff."
Elphie took a little longer to get out of the car as she figured out how the seatbelt unfastened. Finally, she got untangled herself and got out, excited for the prospect of the hoverskiff. The mixture of intoxication and sudden stillness after high speed movement, however, did not treat her well. Thus it was, when she got out of the car exclaiming "Hoopy!" she immediately fell over.
Ford turned around when he realized she wasn't following him.
"Never a monkey around when you need one," he muttered as he went back to help her up. Nevermind they'd left Chistery behind ages before and he was probably still trying to make his way back.
Elphie looked around her. "Suddenly everything is much taller... I must have fallen," she giggled as she sat on the ground. She held her arms up for Chistery's assistance before realizing he wasn't there. "Must be outside still!" she giggled.
Her arm burned where he had touched her. This was really really not good, yet she couldn't stay away. "Monkey will come soon," she shot back... though the giggliness was gone.
Elphie followed unsteadily focusing on not falling and definitely not thinking any of the thoughts in her head. She didn't trust herself to open her mouth.
The hoverskiff was completely alien. It was also swinging side to side like a pendulum, but she supposed that was due to the alcohol. "Froody" she responded, then promptly sat down on the floor as her stomach rolled. Apparently, the pleasant part of being drunk was over.
He waited until she closed the door and then took off again.

"Monkey can't keep up with a car," Ford said.
