The adventures of Bobby Drake: Master Date Planner

Jan 23, 2010 23:39

Who: Bobby Drake and whoever else wants to join!
Where: The room formally known as the Billiards Room
When: The wee hours of the morning
What: Bobby is planning The Date-a date so epic that it needs to be capitalized. Seriously. It is a date so epic that songs will be written about it. There will also be a movie about The Date staring everyone’s favorite actors. The movie (also entitled The Date for any other title would just be ridiculous) will be the best movie ever and will win 17 oscars.

The billiards room was officially no longer able to function for its intended purpose. Each and every pool table had been covered with large bits of paper adorned with messy handwriting, and the billiard balls and pool queues had been engaged in holding down wayward edges. There were lists, charts, diagrams, and even-on the center table-what seemed to be a map of the ground floor of the hotel. On the crude attempt to map the ground floor of the hotel, rooms were crossed out and renamed, arrows pointed every which way, and the word ‘Library’ was scrawled in far too many places. It could only be the work of one man-Bobby Drake.

The man in question was currently standing over the center billiards table, his back to the door and a pen in his mouth, studying the map with the same intensity as a general planning a raid upon the enemy. He was trying to decide where he could possibly take Jason on their date and failing miserably. Everything else had been decided upon-the food, the music, what he was going to wear-but the perfect location had eluded the ex-mutant despite hours upon hours of wandering the hotel trying to find it. The problem lay in the ability to locate the room in question once it had been chosen-hence the map.

Bobby let out a deep sigh, removing the pen and scrawling something rather illegible in the corner. Originally the ex-mutant had decided upon the café as their destination. It was perfect, small and intimate with access to seating and food, but it also seemed to be the hardest room to find in the hotel. Despite having gone into each and every room on the ground floor multiple times that evening the prankster had been unable to place the café on the map even once. It seemed that the only place Bobby had consistently found in the exact same place had been the lobby and the ex-mutant could only imagine what would happen if a new arrival decided to show up in the middle of their date.

The ex-mutant grumbled under his breath and crossed out the recent scrawling before scratching the back of his neck with the cap end of the pen. This was impossible. Why couldn’t the workings of the hotel work in his favor for once instead of impeding him? It would certainly be a nice change.
