Can't sleep so I'm reading the pregnant comm and older entries and going through the comments of one pissed me off. It was an entry about how a woman was in her childbirth class and her instructor mentioned that, if you use a visual aid and do the right breathing techniques, labor will not be that painful. The OP asked the instructor if she'd had ( Read more... )

OMG I remember all the pregnancy snark from back in the day. I saw that kind of bullshit all the time. LJ communities in general make me roll my eyes these days. It's so hard to find ones where people don't flip the fuck out over the most insignificant things.

It irritates the shit out of me how judgmental and shitty some women are in those comms. Oh, you ____? Well, I'm a good mum so I _____ instead.

I didn't read the comments long enough to make it to that one. I wish I had been online. I have had such a desire recently to just smash, break things, punch things, or throw an all out temper tantrum. Maybe the babies know this and that's why my uterus is their mosh pit.

Moshpit belly is what I'm feeling lately too, this baby is just trying to break free. I'm not that grumpy right now, but that irritated the crap out of me. People are stupid.

This makes me so glad I didn't seek out preggo comms. I would have reached through my screen to choke the ignorant moron who said that. I can't believe the assholism that runs rampant these days. If assholes could fly, the whole world would be an airport.

I commented to her saying that I found that pretty shitty and judgmental and she said that ooooobviously, it was dripping in sarcasm and she didn't mean it. Oh yeah, because tone is so clear on the internet. Even if she was joking about it, it wouldn't really fit with the whole thread of comments that way, so it doesn't even make sense as a joke. Wtf, jerk?

I just don't know. There are tons of morons everywhere, and I rarely check out pregnant now, but when I do I always end up rolling my eyes a time or two. Another reason I joined preggo_snark, it's delightful.

Emergency C-sections are only for assholes, of course!

I have a coworker who was soooo pissed that she required medical intervention for what she had planned as a fully natural childbirth. She said that she "felt like she hadn't actually had the kid- the doctors had."

I'm not even a parent and I ??? at that. I mean, the doctors were necessary. I personally feel I would value having a safe and healthy child over whether or not I got to do it my planned way.

Oh god, that kills me too. Dude, I understand things not going to plan but sometimes you've just got to realize that hey, you got a healthy child out of it, that's all that matters. I remember this gal in a preggo comm whining and talking about how she was so depressed she couldn't hardly function because of all the medical intervention NECESSARY FOR HER SON TO HAVE LIVED that she went through. Really man? I mean, Ollie's birth sucked hardcore and all I remember for the most part is PAIN. And I got a kickass son out of it.

Exactly. I mean, I'm thinking that the delivery, while an extremely important part of the whole mother experience, is what, generally a few hours? That healthy kid that came out of the emergency C-section when you didn't induce? She's gonna be FOREVER. You get to wake up every morning with her, and put her to bed every night. So let's all pull it together, play a game of "Things That Really Matter," and count our blessings.
(of course I'm not minimizing that C-sections are painful and take a long time to recover from. That's not what I'm saying at all, or what she was whining about!)

Totally with you on that, c-sections are totally awful and hard to go through but still, the birth isn't the point of it all and shouldn't be your focus- your kid should.
