(no subject)
Today we are in the middle of a terrifying storm system. My 8am appointment to see the doctor got canceled yesterday afternoon in anticipation of the storm's ugliness and when we woke up this morning there was a 1/2" crust of ice over everything outside. It's raining outside now and immediately freezing upon impact. Adam went out to rent some movies since it's a short drive and we were feeling stir crazy. He got a block away and had to stop to scrape off his windshield, which is absurd.
In the light of all this madness I have done the only thing I can- play with the kids, roll around the floor with them, and knit. Adam made me a kickass muenster cheese grilled cheese sandwich and I made chicken soup, it was divine together!
So I've learned to knit, and youtube videos taught me how to purl and to cast off. I'm digging it. I made a bunch of stuff halfway and took it out again and practiced over and over. Now I've got a little rabbit eared hat for Deli that I need to sew together and I'll have my first finished project! It's cream, light brown, and pink yarn mixed with a strand of cream yarn and looks like neopolitan ice cream. I am really liking it. Now I'm making Ollie a hat and it's various greens and yellow greens mixing together and it's got a lot of depth. I think he'll look great in it.
Oh! I got a serger sewing machine on craigslist and have had a blast with it. Adam and I worked together to make Deli a tiny little fleece dress. I'm already looking through clothes we aren't using and that are too stained or roughed up for Goodwill to repurpose them into fun stuff for the kids.

You can tell which pictures feature outfits that Adam put her in. I hate that little headband thing because velvet bothers me on a deep level. I can't explain it but it makes me cringe to touch. She took my glasses and tried to eat them though, aww.
