entry eighteen - good at staying alive.

I seriously do not know what everyone is complaining about. Did anyone die in this port? Not to my knowledge. I think that, from what I've heard, is a fair benchmark for 'good Port'. Some of you may have come close, some of you may be terribly embarassed, but in the end, everyone came out on the positive side of 'dead or not dead', so I don't know exactly what the problem is. except that some of you may deserve to come out on the negative side. If I, a man who's hardly left a sprawling city, can survive out there, then I really don't see the problem admittedly, Assassin's training and a strong, secret policeman's instinct for survival help.

There are furry creatures trying to eat my property. A lot of my property. Thankfully, I don't think it's too tasty. There was me thinking the rats in the Shades were terrible (although these seem to be, thankfully, less vicious and far less intelligent, if more numerous). Where did they come from and what on the Disc should I do with them? I can hardly get at my books and I doubt the usual tactic of clubbing it to death with something or simply chasing it out the door would work too well on a confined space.

I also have finished, provided it doesn't get eaten, a map. Once I've managed to get hold of it again, a copy will be avaliable to anyone who might want one. Security can have a full sized copy, but I'm keeping the master copy. Nobody, from now on, is allowed to complain about being lost.

Judas, I have your sand.

ankh-morpork rats pwn your tribbles, not pissing and moaning?, secret policeman are good survivors
