Not a big blue fire truck, alas, it's a little doohicky from Verizon which apparently I can take with me to Rwanda and still check my LJ.  My modem gave out yesterday (again) and they were having a promotion so thought I'd give this a try - so far so good, seems quite zippy.

Got the verdict on Monday, my little frogmobile is indeed totaled :(  So ( Read more... )

fun with concussions, cars, rl

Poor RAV4! That is indeed quite the smooshing.

And now scams after accidents? Can people stoop any lower on the scumbag scale? Jeez.

Good luck with the car shopping! Yes, I love internet car shopping. It really lowers the stress level and I hope you find something that suits you.

I couldn't put up the photo I took of it head on - it looked too much like a sad, smushed little face :(

Yeah that's pretty low - although on the scumbag scale I've heard of worse (thankfully not encountered them personally).

Thanks! I found a pretty good candidate today, got it checked out by my mechanic and he said it was in great shape, so I'll probably finalize everything tomorrow. That will be a big load off - I feel a bit of a frazzle ^^

Oof! I HATE People that take advantage of people like that >=( *hugs tight!* And I hate salesmen too -.- the first time I went car shopping, I was looking for something small and cheap and my only real specifications were "No PT Cruisers" so after trying to pitch their First Time Buyer program at me, (Which required a 2500 downpayment that I didn't have), they showed me (duh duh duh da~) a PT Cruiser. A scratched-to-shit PT Cruiser. With leather interior. In Phoenix, Arizona. >=/ And when I told him I only had like 500 for a downpayment, he was like "Oh. Well bye."

It'll be over soon, though, hon. *hugs*

Yeah, at least I'm fairly sound of mind and body so I got a clue pretty fast, but I could see someone who was still disoriented or injured falling for it. Salesmen: I KNOW WHY DO THEY DO THAT!? I tell them I need something with cargo space for big muddy dog, and they show me an itty sports car. It makes no sense.

Thanks! I'm hoping to finalize on a car tomorrow - with so far the least exasperating salesman I've encountered. It's at one of those corner sort of seedy looking used-car dealerships and I was thinking, oh dear, it's gonna be Bobby Bolivia's right of Tranformers, lol, but the sales guy has been courteous and no-pressure and everything he told me about the car was confirmed by my mechanic, so he gets gold star.

That's a rare trait among salesmen but I guess I can't blame them since at least 95% of their income comes off that sale commission and not from being on the clock wandering the dealership.

But just because I can't blame them doesn't mean I won't avoid them like the fragging plague...

*hugs* so glad i didn't have to deal with anything worse than an incompatible-with-me rental car and that screw up with the deductible when i had my accident.

*snuggles in* Rental cars, eesh - this one is very nice, but poor Kettle hasn't been for a ride in a week! It's just not a good dog car. Yeah, accidents are a big headache no matter what, but having to buy a replacement car takes the hassle to a whole new level.

Yeouch. I feel ya on the car. And hope you check out fine at the doc's as well, plus your legal ble-blah goes along swimmingly.

Thanks! I get attached to the cars - I like to spend at least a decade with them ^^ I'm sure I'll be fine - just one of those "it'll get better with time and rest (and less legal ble-blah)" things.

Poor car :( And damn, having someone show up like that sounds horrible (door to door cold calling creeps me out).

I hope the reporting isn't too troublesome.

Yeah, it's not a horrible neighborhood, but it's not without problems, so every time I open the door to a stranger it's a calculated risk. I always have the tarantula close at hand - I figure the odds are reasonable that someone giving me issues just might have a spider phobia ^^ (And if that doesn't work I can always point a skunk at 'em).

Police never even called me back today. Hmf!

That was helpful of them!

I can imagine that holding a skunk at someone would give them reason to pause! As for a tarantual - I'm sure that'd work on a lot of people who aren't scared of spiders too!
