The police tended to ignore things if there were ties to important people, no matter the evidence against them.

That's unforgivable. Just because someone is considered important..! They're hurting people aren't they?!

Of course they are, but the police can't, or won't, do anything about it.

It's simply a possibility. Whatever their reasons, they're not very effective here.

I don't think it's fair to judge the entire force poorly because of one or two cases that are still open.

I'll change my opinion if they give me reason to.

Have you checked how many closed cases they have on their record?

I haven't, but I assume there's not typically much crime here.
