Helena Bonham Carter rocks my socks.

I finally, got to see Sweeney Todd.  Oh.  My.  God.  I don't know where to start.  It was just so... guh.

The beginning of the movie seems really freaking dark, though that may have something to do with the fact that the theatre I went to doesn't turn off all the lights.  Anyway, art direction was fantabulous in every way shape and form.  I LOVED the costumes for Sweeney and Mrs. Lovett (especially when she's singing out living on the beach).  Those of you out there who keep trying to make me wear a dress, I'd wear dresses like hers (not that you'd let me, but now you know).

Johnny was awesome as always, but who really stole the show for me was Helena Bonham Carter.  This is probably my favorite performance of hers.  I'd never heard her sing before and wasn't expecting such a sweet voice from her, but she was wonderful. Then you toss in Alan Rickman who is fabulous no matter what he does and well, you couldn't really ask for a better cast.  (Not to mention Timothy Spall - Wormtail - and you may as well throw a Harry Potter party.  Those Harry Potter actors always seem to travel in threes...).

I'm still sort of absorbing.  Probably gonna see it again next weekend and will have more to add.  I was trying to take mental notes in the theatre but they apparently didn't stick.
