My List of Read/Reading Mangas N-Z

Jul 11, 2020 16:27

As many of you on my f-list may know, or if you don't you will now, I am a really big fan of manga. And so I just needed a place to list what mangas I have read, am reading, will read.

They're listed in alphabetical order for the most part with author(s), and noted if they're completed or uncompleted, reading, how many chapters it has if completed, a little summary of the story if I feel like it or I'll just take the one off of OM, and I'm doing stars too! And I leave extra notes for ones that I really like.

- Mangas are rated to a max of 5 stars. Rated on artwork, story line, whether or not I cried at the end, and various things.
- The incomplete/complete is based off of onemanga.com.
- If it is incomplete and doesn't have 'reading' then it just means that I've probably lost interest in it for now.
* Denotes that it was a summary off of OM. I take no credit for writing it.

I'm always open to questions if a manga is worth reading or not. And please recommend me some that I should read! Because I'm more of a mainstream jump type girl with a side of seinen manga. I need to read more Shoujo and other genres, so if you know any then drop a comment or tweet me on Twitter. Anything that you think is good or is not on this list is okay with me.

Naruto - Masashi Kishimoto - Incomplete - Reading - ★★★★★★★★★★★★★★
This was the manga that got me into manga.  I even remember that the first volumes that I bought were #s 5 and 6.  Whenever I reminisce about it I can't believe that it's been 5 years since I've been into manga and almost 10 that I've been into anime.  This manga takes you into the world of ninja.  Not the stereotypical ninja that we're all used to, but Kishimoto's ninja.  Although the ANBU Black Ops does resemble our view of ninjas.  The main character Uzumaki Naruto is the container for the nine-tailed demon fox that attacked Konoha.  He's shunned by most until he's put onto Team 7, which will change his life forever.  He'll meets friends and people that he'll willingly give his life for any day.  This story is a must read, so get started!  It's 500+ as of right now!

New Prince of Tennis - Konomi Takeshi - Incomplete - Reading - ★★★★★
I recommend that you read the "Prince of Tennis" before reading this, but truly it doesn't make too much of a difference.  I wasn't too sure why I started to read this, but I guess I was just pulled in by the sexy that was Niou Masaharu and Yagyuu Hiroshi.  They're from the opposing team, but they make a great doubles pairing.  That's where my username originates from anyway.  This pairing's official name is Platinum Pair. This story takes place after PoT about a couple months and they're going away to a training camp that normally only accepts high schoolers.  But when the selection takes place, will some of the best doubles pairings be broken away from each other?

Nurarihyon no Mago - Shiibashi Hiroshi - Incomplete - ★★★
I think I only read a couple chapters of this.  Now that I look back at it, it seems to be pretty good art from the cover. I might come back and read it sometime.
* Rikuo Nura, a kid that is part human and a quarter youkai (demon), lives in a house full of spirits along with his grandfather. Trying to escape his fate of acting like a demon, he does good deeds in order to avoid becoming one. Despite his grandfather's wish to succeed him as master of the Nurari youkai clan.

One Piece - Eiichiro Oda - Incomplete - Reading! - ★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★ x infinity
First off, if I could give this more stars then I totally would.  And I thank Oda-sensei for writing this series!  I'm glad that he didn't end it after five years like he was planning.  Oda is my literature idol.  All of those american classics that they make us read in english class do not compare to this even one bit.  It packs adventure, comedy, drama, fantasy and even that slight bit of romance all throughout it.  Although the romance is mostly Sanji fawning over ladies.  When I started to read this, my whole outtake on life kind of changed.  I would say that I kind of loosened up as a person and learned to enjoy a little bit more.  Oda can make every single emotion fly through your mind with just his pictures.  The words amplify the scene even more, but it's true that a picture can tell a million words.  And Oda has done it.  The main point of all of the pirates adventures in this story is to find One Piece, the greatest treasure in the world.  The crew that I'm rooting for is the Mugiwara Pirates.  I'll give you their status within the crew and their bounty as of now.  They consist of Monkey D. Luffy (Captain - 300 million), Roronoa Zoro (First mate - 120 Million), Nami (Navigator - 16 Million), Usopp (Sharpshooter - 30 Million), Sanji (Cook - 77 Million), Tony Tony Chopper (Doctor - 50 Beri), Nico Robin (Archeologist - 80 Million), Franky (Shipwright - 44 Million), Brook (Musician - 33 Million). Right now in the series it's approaching time skip so Oda's going to be on break and they're all going to level up like 10 times their level right now.

The One - Lee Nicky - Incomplete - Reading - ★★★★
* Cane Lele was born into the fashion industry. Her mother, Ye Feii, was Taiwan's top model, and her father was also a model, until a tragic airplane crash left Lele without parents.
Therefore it is no surprise that Lele hates the industry, thinking it superficial and unnecessary. Raised by her paternal grandmother, Lele reaches seventeen before she is sucked in by her mother’s sister, Ye Feihung, a fashion agent (and former model) who "convinces" the reluctant Lele to pose.
It's a decent story but kind of cliched.  So I'm reading it on and off.

Ookami Go Kuru! - Nanto Hanamaru - Incomplete - Reading - ★★★★★
This was my phase when I still really liked Harry Potter and the lead character of this is named Sirius.  I'm in love with the artwork of this story.
* In order to investigate the strange phenomenon occuring in Northern Bayern, Germany, the church (KIRCHE) have dispatched the slayer Sirius. He rescues a young woman, Beate, who was being attacked by zombies. However, as the two attempt to leave, they’re attacked by more zombies...

Oresama Teacher - Izumi Tsubaki - Incomplete - Reading - ★★★★
* Kurosaki Mafuyu was a juvenile delinquent and head of her gang before her subsequent arrest got her expelled from high school. Now that she's transferred to a new high school, she's determined to become an "ultra-shiny, super feminine high school student." But with a new friend like Hayasaka-kun and a homeroom teacher like Saeki Takaomi (who may be more than he seems), will Mafuyu really be able to live a girly-girl high school life!?
This summary is ten times better than the one that I could give.  Well at least the girl isn't a mary sue.  She's got this weird rabbit mask for when she needs to get tough and beat people up.  It's a good story.

Otomen -  Aya Kano - Incomplete - Reading - ★★★★
* Asuka is a guy who has likings for girly things like shoujo manga, baking, and sewing. However, his mother forbids him being so and wants him to grow up manly. He starts learning kendo and karate and grows up to be stoic guy. But can he fight the urge of falling in love and hiding his real identity?
The main character is just so cool!  I believe there's a drama out there for this, but correct me if I'm wrong.  It's kind of that usual love story, but in this it's switched roles.  And I believe there's a friend that writes manga or stories that's writing about this couple.

Ouran High School Host Club - Hatori Bisco - Incomplete - Reading - ★★★★★
An excellent example of gender bender.  Haruhi is absolutely adorable when she realizes that she has feelings for Tamaki.  The art is beautiful and it's a nice story line.
* One day, Haruhi, a scholarship student at exclusive Ouran High School, breaks an $80,000 vase that belongs to the "Host Club", a mysterious campus group consisting of six super-rich (and gorgeous) guys. To pay back the damages, she is forced to work for the club, and it's there that she discovers just how wealthy the boys are and how different they are from everybody else.

Painting Warriors - Suen Wai Kwan - Incomplete - Reading - ★★★
* In the early Song Dynasty (AD 960-1127), at the western border of the Tangut Empire - a pivot point of the Silk Road - furious battles were being fought. Brave warriors of the Tangut and a strange religious army from the west battled for a rumoured sacred item. Conflicts, conspiracies, and religious struggles - moving in the heart of the battlefield, the "untouchable war painter" Tao Hui paints nothing but the truth!
The pictures that are painted throughout this story of the war is just gorgeous.

Papillon - Hana to Chou - Miwa Ueda - Incomplete - ★★
This is totally one of the most typical shoujo stories that I have ever read.  Two sisters grow up on different ends of the spectrum.  One lived in the countryside while the other with their parents in the city.  They have totally opposite personalities.  One is quiet and shy, while the other is popular and beautiful.  Will she be be able to come out from her shell and confess to the one boy that she has a crush on?

Persona 3 - Sogabe Shuji - Incomplete - ★★★
* Based on the PlayStation 2 game of the same name. A teenager who was orphaned as a young boy returns to the city of his childhood. Shortly after transferring to Gekkoukan High School, he is attacked by Shadows

Persona 4 - Sogabe Shuji - Incomplete - ★★★
* 2011, Seta Souji moves to the countryside to his uncle's house due to his parents working abroad. Not very friendly, he however manage to make a few friends there, and they all decide to solve the mystery behind the sudden cases of serial murders that strikes the area.

Personant - Komi Naoshi - Complete - Oneshot - ★★★★★
It's the year 3333 and everyone is required to wear a personant.  It masks your identity and everyone is exactly like the other.  The only thing you really know about each other is your name and what the other's gender is.  But there is one man that refuses to wear one.  He goes by the name of Damore.
This has got to be one of the best one shots that I have ever read!  I'm really hoping that it can become a series.  Check it out!  There's a surprise ending!

Piano no Mori - Isshiki Makoto - Incomplete - Reading - ★★★★★
* A tranquil tale about two boys from very different upbringings. On one hand you have Kai, born as the son of a prostitute, who's been playing the abandoned piano in the forest near his home ever since he was young. And on the other you have Syuhei, practically breast-fed by the piano as the son of a family of prestigious pianists. Yet it is their common bond with the piano that eventually intertwines their paths in life.
Sometimes when I read this, I can actually imagine the tunes that are coming from the manga.  It's incredible. The artwork isn't amazing at all, but the story of these two boys is great.  That piano in the forest is such a life changer.

Pink Lady - Yeon Woo - Incomplete - Reading - ★★★
Our main lady is an art student, whom is in a drawing stump.  She meets another art student and takes his notebook by mistake.  She tries to copy his style, but is unable to.  It turns out that these two are familiar with each other even though she doesn't know it.

Potemayo - Ogataya Haruka - Inactive - ★★★★
* A 4koma manga involving a small, cute, soft like a stuffed toy, human-like creature with animal ears named Potemayo, her nonchalant owner Sunao, a similar creature named Guchuko and Sunao's zany classmates. It's a cute story.  I really don't remember why I even started to read it, but Potemayo will make you squeal with joy!

Prince of Tennis - Konomi Takeshi - Complete - 380 Chapters - ★★★★★
If you're reading this part then you've probably already read my summary for the sequel of this.  I was impressed with this story, but Viz did no justice in the translation of it.
* Echizen Ryoma just joined the Seishun Gakuen Middle School tennis team, which is known for being one of the most competitive teams in Japan. Ryoma has proven his skills by winning four straight American junior tournament titles. With his skills, Ryoma challenges a rule of Seishun Gakuen that freshmen don't represent the team to play in tournaments until summer.

Q and A - Adashi Mitsuru - Incomplete - Reading - ★★★★
Atsushi Ando is a 15 year old student who moves back to his hometown with the rest of his family.  His older brother's ghost haunts him every single day of his life.  His death was what prompted them to move in the first place and now they're back and he's going to pull as many pranks as he can.  But the problem for our Ando-kun is that he's the only one that can see his brother's ghost.
It's an easy going story and a nice change from normal action shonen that I always read.

Rurouni Kenshin - Watsuki Nobuhiro - Complete - 256 Chapters - ★★★★★
I didn't read the entire manga, but give me props; I did watch the entire anime.  I'll probably get to reading when I feel like it.  I'm not going to buy this, so I'll try and find it somewhere online.  I didn't like how Saitou Hajime was portrayed, but it's cool.  There's other mangas with Shinsengumi out there.
* 140 years ago in Kyoto, with he coming of the American "Black Ships," there arose a warrior who, felling men with his bloodstained blade, gained the name Hitokiri , man slayer! His killer blade helped close the turbulent Bakumatsu era and slashed open the progressive age known as Meiji . Then he vanished, and with the flow of years, became legend.

Rust Blaster - Toboso Yana - Complete - 6 Chapters - ★★★★
* In the Vampire Mercenary Specialized School, "1000 Years Academy," the most unvampire-like vampire at the academy, Aru, and the human transfer student, Kei, meet by chance. But what they didn't know was that it was a fate the world depended on.

Saijou no Meii - Mashiguchi Takashi - Incomplete - Reading - ★★★★★★
This is one medical story that I recommend everyone to read.  The main character is Saijou Mikoto who was born with a bad heart, but thanks to the skills of Shindou Mamoru, he survived.  And he's determined to become the world's greatest pediatric surgeon.  The art is incredible and it's such an inspiring story.  Anyone who thinks they might want a future in medicine should totally read this.

Saint Young Men - Nakamura Hikaru - Incomplete - Reading - ★★★★
I know this story's gotten some negative feedback because it stars Jesus and Buddha, but it's a really interesting concept.  The art is good and it's hilarious at times!
* What if Jesus and Buddha were living on Earth in modern times? What if they shared an apartment in Japan? Saint Young Men is a humorous manga about the daily lives of Jesus and Buddha, with each chapter focusing on some element of modern life, such as Disneyland, rush hour on the train, Christmas, the public pool, carnivals, and more.

Sand Chronicles - Ashihara Hinako - Incomplete - ★★★
It's another typical shoujo.  Girl moves from the city to the countryside, mother commits suicide, she meets new friends, falls in love with one of her friends, has to move back to the city and keep a long distance relationship, but one of her friends is in love with her and the other with her boyfriend.  That's basically the story.  If you want to then check it out.  I'm not entirely impressed, but Fuji-kun is good looking.

Say Hello to Blackjack - Sato Syuho - Incomplete - ★★★★
Another medical drama.  This one exploits the dark side of the medical world.  I'm not sure just how true it is, but I mean, it seems reasonable.  Let's hope that our Saitou doesn't fall into the dark side and becomes a great doctor.  The art is okay, but the story makes it better.
* Saitou is a young doctor who just graduated. Starting his career as a doctor he finds there is a lot more to this profession than one would think. An intense drama about the dark side of the medical world.

School Mermaid - Yoshitomi Akihito - Complete - 3 Chapters - ★★★
2 girls found a book that told a tale of mermaids that could bring true love to you, but only if you ate the mermaid that with the letter that your crush's name begins with.  It's kind of a sick story and I wouldn't read it if I had time on my hands or something.

Shaman King - Hiroyuki Takei - Complete - 302 Chapters - ★★★★★
I read this story when it was in Jump in the US.  I was impressed with the story line and I think there was even an anime for it as well.  I recommend it to all!  The author of this also did the collaboration with Stan Lee.  I think it was called Ultimo.
* Yoh Asakura is a shaman--one of the gifted few who, thanks to training or natural talent, can channel spirits that most people can't even see. With the help of his fiancee, Anna, Yoh is in training for the ultimate shaman sports event: the "Shaman Fight in Tokyo," the once-every-500-years tournament to see who can shape humanity's future and become the Shaman King. But unfortunately for Yoh, every shaman in the world is competing for the same prize...

Shibatora - Ando Yuma & Asaki Masashi - Incomplete - Reading - ★★★★
Shibata Taketora is a police officer for the juvenile division.  And he's got the face of child, but he's serious in what he does and he does it right.  His goal is to become a detective.  He's still got a long way to go, but he's got help along the way from some close friends.
It's an excellent story line and really shows us the flaws of our society.  Underage labor, simple thievery, murder and gangs are all just a part of Shibata's everyday schedule.

Shiki - Ono Fuyumi & Fujisaki Ryu - Incomplete - Reading - ★★★★★
Our story takes place in a small village with a population of roughly 1300.  One day someone dies, but that's normal isn't it?  All humans are meant to die eventually, but it's odd when someone sees that person wandering around at night and asking them for entrance into their home, isn't it?  Our local doctor is trying to figure out just what is happening along with some of the saner residents of this village.  They suspect that it has something to do with that fancy house up the mountain where no one comes out of.  And the existence of vampires is being questioned.  Will they be able to save the village before everyone becomes victim to these monsters of the night?
I don't love the concept of vampires at all, but the way that they're drawn is just awesome and it's not your typical vampire.  Especially not your sparkly Twilight vampires.  And the doctor is just one person that you can't help but fall for!

Shinobi Life - Konami Shouko - Incomplete - ★★★
Kagetora was hot, so I clicked on it.  And because he had that ninja outfit on.  I forgot to read the summary, so I thought it was going to be an actual historical ninja story.  But it turned out that it was a cliched romance. But it's decent because it takes that ways of the old and brings them to the 21st century.
*  Many, many years ago, a ninja named Kagetora devoted his life to protecting Princess Beni (”Beni-Hime”). Unfortunately, they were attacked and Kagetora was flung into a lake, and sank to the bottom… And is somehow warped to the future where he sees the princess Beni being kidnapped.
Little does Kagetora know that Beni is not the real princess, but rather her descendant. Beni, on the other hand, thought that Kagetora was just a cosplayer. Beni, the daughter of a rich man has already been kidnapped a hundred times already... But fear not because Kagetora is here. Will Kagetora be able to go back to the past, or will he remain by Beni’s side forever?

Sketchbook - Kobako Totan - Incomplete - Reading - ★★★★
It's a really random story.  There's tons of japanese gags and jokes that you'd only get if you read the in between the panel notes from the translator.  But it's enjoyable and the kitties are just adorable!  The story mostly takes place in art club with Kajiwara Sora as the main character.  She's a shy, quiet girl who tends to live life at her own pace.  There's also another girl who's very stingy about money, one that collects bugs and the club teacher herself.  There's lots of characters within this story.  Recommended more as a stress reliever!

Slam Dunk - Inoue Takehiro - Complete - 276 Chapters - ★★★★
* Hanamichi Sakuragi is a delinquent who has never had any luck with girls. However, when he meets Haruko Akagi, he is sure that she's the one for him. Haruko is a big basketball fan and notices his potential as a basketball player (due to his immense height). Hoping to win her heart, Hanamichi earnestly tries out for the basketball team. Does this complete newbie have what it takes to even join the team?
It's one of those classic mangas, isn't it?  I've got to admit that I've only read about 5 chapters from it, but I just need those 5 to tell me how good of a manga it is.  The art wasn't to die for, but I was so moved by how Sakuragi wants to impress Akagi.

Strobe Edge - Sakisaka Io - Incomplete - Reading - ★★★
Another typical shoujo.  I'm kind of surprised at how well these do in Japan.  Especially since about half of them have the same kind of story line.  But I have a little soft spot for Ninako.  I'm rooting for her and Ren to get together!
* Ninako is a meek, gentle high school student. She has never been in love. Ninako asks Daiki, who has emotions towards her, about what being in love feels like. She thinks he is a good guy but…? One day, on the train home from school, she bumps into Ren, a popular guy at school. With just a short conversation and his smile, she experiences a new feeling. Just what is this feeling…!? Ninako’s first love is starting!

Switch - Naked Ape - Incomplete - Reading - ★★★★★
Eto Kai is the new investigator at the Greater Kanto Narcotics Control Division.  He doesn't give off that investigator feel, but he hides a violent alter ego and a dangerous past that will get him into more trouble than he needs.  His partner is Hal Kurabayashi, whom is the complete opposite of him.  They're on the hunt to stop the trafficking of these drugs, but it's going to take quite a bit of time and a little cosplaying along the way.  I'm impressed with how this story was written.  I can imagine that Naked Ape had to do quite a bit of research on all these drugs before they wrote the story.  I just need to get back into it.  The price of manga these days is not helping me to read and I can't find a lot of scans for this.

SWOT - Sugita Naoya - Incomplete - Reading - ★★★
For right now it's only 3 stars because I've only read 2 chapters.  the art seems generic and the story's okay, but it'll develop eventually, right?
* Transfer student Manabizaki Kyou is a swot, a person who spends too much time studying. His dream is to attend Tokyo University and then work for NASA! He will soon discover, however, that the high school he's transferred into, which was once very prestigious, has taken in delinquents from the surrounding schools. Now it is full of violence and gang fights.
Luckily, Manabizaki has a surprising skill at fighting, particularly when he's defending the peace of his study area. Through this strength he'll find his new friends, a weak boy called Iwashida and a legendary delinquent girl, Hasuno Nene, who makes him feel things that, for the first time in his life, he can't explain...

Team Medical Dragon - Nogizaka Taro & Nagai Akira - Incomplete - Reading - ★★★★★
This is medical manga at it's best!  Asada Ryutaro could easily be called one of the best surgeons that Japan's ever seen, but his methods are bit out of the norm to the eyes of the Japanese doctors.  He's sent to Africa after a fiasco, and ends up staying there to help all of the sick and wounded for a long period of time. A certain female surgeon is about to publish her thesis on the Batista method, but she needs to find a doctor talented enough to complete it.  And Asada is just the man for the job, but will he come back to the world of corrupt Japanese hospitals?  He'd much rather sleep around with random women in his broken down shack.

Tegami Bachi - Asada Hiroyuki - Incomplete - ★★★
I kind of got bored with this by the time it first appeared in Jump in the US.  But the concept is interesting.  I might get back into it when I have the chance.
* Tegami Bachi (or Letter Bees) are couriers that deliver important letters and packages throughout the land of eternal dusk, Amber Ground.
The story revolves around Lag Seeing, a young boy who was born on The Day of Flicker, 12 years ago when the man-made sun went down for unknown reasons. The manga follows his ambition to become a Letter Bee and how he follows the path of his idol Gauche who went missing...

Tetsuwan Girl - Takahashi Tsutomu - Incomplete - Reading - ★★★★
The strong women in this manga really are just inspiring.
* A young woman meets a young man. Both have lost everything because of the war. Tome Kano, a barmaid, lost everything during the war. Katsuya Ranzaki, a wealthy investor, lost everything for not going to war. The two are fed up with their lives and want to live "real lives" for once. Katsuya's starting up an all-girls baseball team with Tome on it allows them to do this. In This dramatic story, the dreams of a nation come alive. Through the determination and strength of Katsuya and Tome, girls baseball becomes a sensation, and Tome a superstar.

Tista - Endou Tatsuya - Complete - 9 Chapters - ★★★★
* Tista, a shy young girl, leads a double life. By day she's a church-going student at a New York School with aspiring to become a teacher. At night her darker truth comes out, nicknamed, Sister Militia, who assassinates for the church. For her, no distance is too far to get a one shot kill.
It's an interesting concept.  Church girl by day, assassin for the church by night.  I wouldn't want to be one of her targets.  The art is pretty good and I recommend it.

Time Eliminator - Tomozo - Incomplete - Reading - ★★★★★
I don't feel like writing the summary myself because OM's is pretty good.  The art is amazing and the concept of time travel has always been an interest of mine.  And because he also goes back in time to the Jack the Ripper events!
* The office of the Time Eliminator offers a unique service, the ability to eliminate an event that happened in the past. Rex, the man with the power to travel through time, may look young, but he's a professional. He goes back in time well-prepared, with various gadgets and even an earpiece for communication with his support in the present. While Rex typically takes on cases for profit, he's also particularly looking for ones that might give him a chance to obtain a magical "Babylon Item".
The first case of the series is from the last remaining descendant of Fred Abberline, who was one of the detectives who failed to solve the notorious Jack the Ripper murders. Ever since then, the Abberline family has been cursed. Could the curse be the sign of someone in the past using a Babylon Item?! It's up to Rex to go back in time to the Jack the Ripper incidents and find a way to remove the curse from the Abberline family!

The Sleepy Residents of Birdcage Manor - Kabei Yukako & Takarai Rihito - Incomplete - Reading - ★★★★
Yusei Asai is an artist and is one of the residents of the Birdcage Manor.  Kizuna is a part-time prostitute, who's bored of her profession and is approached by Inoue Yuki to become a nude model for her cousin. She slowly opens up to him and wonders why he hasn't made an advance on her after all the time that they spend together.
The concept is nice and I really like the style of it.  It should totally be ranked higher on the OM scale.  I wish there was more chapters out though.

Toriko - Shimabukuro Mitsutoshi - Incomplete - Reading - ★★★★★★
I never knew it, but the author of this and Oda are pretty good friends!  That didn't influence my love for this at all though.  I would normally shun a story where guys are so muscular after a nightmare that I had once and watching Baki the Grappler a couple of times, but the way that it's drawn doesn't affect me.  It actually works really well with the story.  The whole food thing just makes me hungry sometimes when I read this.  And it's a perfect example of Shonen manga!
* In the world where the taste and texture of food are very important there is Toriko a hunter of precious foods regularly hired by restaurants and the rich , a man with inhuman skills to capture the ferocious, evasive and rare animals to complete his ultimate dinner course and then his current accomplice a weak timid person who was inspired by toriko's greatness and accompanies him on all his journeys on his quest for the course of his life.

Toshokan Sensou - Spitfire! - Arikawa Hiro & Furudori Yayoi - Incomplete - Reading - ★★★★
* In an alternate future... the government of Japan introduces the Media Betterment Act (MBA) at the dawn of the Seika era. The MBA allows the government to censor and/or confiscate any publication that it deems unsuitable for the public, using force when deemed necessary.
To counteract the MBA, opposition legislators within the Japanese government pass another law, the Library Liberty Act (LLA). This Act allows libraries to defend the freedom of information, and thus become the sole opponent to the MBA. Under the LLA, the Library Defense Force is created. Over the years, conflict between the opposing forces escalates.
30 years after the enactment of the MBA and the LLA, Kasahara Iku joins the Kanto Library Defense Force to protect books, just like the Library Defense Force member who saved her when she was in high school...
Very enjoyable and I'm yearning for more.  There's only 3 chapters on OM, but I'm searching around on other places for other chapters.  I hope this will never happen to the future of our books!

Ugly Duckling to Swan - Hwang Mi Ri - Incomplete - Reading - ★★
The korean equivalent of a shoujo manga.  So this one is fat girl wants to be skinny, her entire family has shunned her, she's bullied every day, she goes to a family grave and is granted her wish to become pretty. But there's just two conditions for it.  She can't kiss any guy and she can't go out in the rain or she'll return to her former appearance.
There's not really much of a twist to it except for the two conditions.

ULTIMO - Stan Lee & Takei Hiroyuki - Incomplete - Reading - ★★★★
This is just an unforgettable collaboration of two of the greatest minds to enter the world of graphic novels. The artwork is outstanding and the story line a bit confusing, but it just takes a little more thought to get everything through.
* High above Farmless City, citizens are stunned by the sudden appearance of two floating figures. Are they human boys, monolithic robots, or something much more strange? As the battle ensues between them, destruction and devastation falls on the hapless city. One figure is Vice, and seems to be as evil as his name implies. The other is Ultimo, intent on trying to stop Vice from wreaking more havoc. But who are Vice and Ultimo really? Where did they come from? A new mystery begins with the fate of the world possibly hanging in the balance!

Uwasaya - Hosaka Ayumu & Hasumi Natsume - Incomplete - Reading - ★★★★
* Uemura Takitarou is a Genius Cosplayer who can change himself from head to toe. One day, he finds his only friend, Asami Kusaka, killed by the Night Blindness Man, a serial murderer who gouges out the eyes of his victims. Tominaga Hana, a model, discovers his talent and recruits him for the company, UC, an office that solves mysteries and crimes by manipulating rumors/urban legends. Can Uemura track down the person who killed Kusaka?
It's been quite a while since I've read it, but the cosplay done in here are just mind blowing!  It really inspires me to get my costumes done.  But make-up is going to be such a problem!

Vampire Knight - Hino Matsuri - Incomplete - ★★★★
Cross Academy is not your typical academy.  You have the Day Class and the Night Class.  The Night Class has a dark secret that must guarded and Yuki Cross and Zero Kiryu are the Guardians in charge of that. Their dark secret: they're all vampires.  They shine and sparkle and are just better than normal people. Owns Twilight in so many ways.

Vanilla Ice - Kim Woo Hyun - Hiatsu - ★★★
* Beautiful, delicate Yoon Sul and tall, brawny Taehee are exact opposites, and yet somehow they can't escape each other! And now with the addition of the popular student representative, Sijun, being interested in Taehee, how will Yoon Sul react?! Action-packed romantic comedy with a twist!

Veritas - Kim Dong-Hoon & Yoon Joon-shik - Incomplete - ★★★
Our main character is aiming to be the strongest and learns a skill from Youcheon.  He's forced to go to a school where all of the students have supernatural powers because he was the only student of Youcheon.
A korean fighting manhwa. Youcheon is very cool with his lightning fist, but it's kind of too bad that he's dead. I've noticed from all of the manga and manhwa that I've read that the art style of the two are really different. And this manhwa really shows the difference.

Wanted! - Oda Eiichiro Tanpenshu - Oda Eiichiro - Complete - 5 Chapters - ★★★★★
This is the collection of one shots that Oda did prior to the debut of One Piece.  Romance Dawn was the one that scored him One Piece.  The one shots are Wanted!, God's Gift For the Future, Ikki Yako, Monsters and Romance Dawn.

Wild Life - Fujisaki Masato - Incomplete - Reading - ★★★★★
Sometimes I wish that I had perfect pitch too.  But it'd kind of be a pain when you can hear a dog whistle just as good as a dog.  I love the entire manga and the art is okay, but not excellent.
* Tesshou is your typical high school delinquent with a special skill. He has a perfect pitch. This skill enables him to hear things most people wouldn't. After saving a small dog, Tesshou realises his calling in life is to become a Vet!

Williams - Komi Naoshi - Complete - One Shot - ★★★★
* William is a young boy who idolizes Aradoff, a character from a popular novel which told Aradoff's adventures, and always dreams of having a grand adventure on his own. William's meeting with the novel author finally puts him on an adventure to prove that the novel is not merely a fiction
I'm really hoping that the author gets a long running series of his own.  His one shots are some of the best works I've ever seen.  His art style and story telling abilities are just awesome!

The World God Only Knows - Wakaki Tamiki - Incomplete - Reading - ★★★★
Katsuragi Keima is an otamegane.  He can't get himself a real girl, but he's a god of those in the 2D world. He meets Erushii and together they form a duo to catch the runaway spirits.  Problem is, he didn't want to sign up for it.  These spirits only hide in the hearts of girls and the only way to make the spirits come out is to fill the void in the girl's heart.
Totally one of my favorite romancy, weird comedies ever!  Keima is cool in his own way.  Highly recommended!

Yakitake Japan - Hashiguchi Takashi - Incomplete - Reading - ★★★★
* There's French Bread, there's German Bread, there's English bread. But there is no Ja-pan (pan is Japanese for bread), Japanese Bread. The genius teenage baker, Azuma Kazuma sets his goal as creating the ultimate Ja-pan, a bread that Japan would be famous for. With the natural warm hands Azuma possess (Solar hands), he sets off to become a baker for Japan's largest bakery chain, Pantasia.
Cooking mangas need to be written more often.  The comedy within this is sometimes too much, but the drive of our main character is so contagious.

Yankee-kun to Megane-Chan - Yoshikawa Miki - Incomplete - Reading - ★★★★★★
Shinagawa Daichi is just your normal high school delinquent who doesn't care, but then he meets "her" and he's determined to attend the same school as her.  "She" happens to be Adachi Hana who has failed all of her classes and is forced to take summer school or else she'll repeat the grade.  She was a former delinquent, but she's changed her ways and has become the class rep due to some unimaginable circumstances.
Excellent manga.  The gag, and problem solving skills of the student council is just awesome!  I recommend it to all and I think there's a drama out as well!

Yotsubato! - Azuma Kiyohiko - Incomplete - Reading - ★★★★★
It's one of the most random stories that I've ever read, but it never fails to bring a smile to my face.  Little Yotsuba is clueless about a lot of things, but she's got such a great imagination to go with that.  Follow her on her everyday journeys, may it just be taking in the newspaper to going to the Bon Festival.

Yu-Yu Hakusho - Yoshihito Togashi - Complete - 175 Chapters - ★★★★★
This was on of my favorite animes growing up.  I probably shouldn't have been watching it when I was 7 or 8, but my parents didn't really know what was going on.  Demons and becoming a detective of the Spirit Realm was all normal to me.  This is another shonen classic that everyone should read.  Or at least watch.
* Yusuke Urameshi is a street-brawling delinquent with a tough guy approach to everything. However, no one expects a sudden act of heroism on his part: he dies trying to save a little boy from a speeding car. In fact, when he arrives in the afterlife, he is informed that no one was expecting him to die that way, and were not prepared for his arrival. After numerous tests to gauge his worth, Yusuke is eventually revived, and is assigned to work for the Spirit Realm as a detective investigating demonic cases in the human world.

Zombie Powder - Tite Kubo - Complete - 27 Chapters - ★★★★
This story was Kubo's first major one in Jump, but it ended quickly with only 27 chapters.  It's unfortunate because I think this could really have been a cool one if it was pursued.
* A world where a special powder is sought out by Powder Hunters for its power to bring the dead back to life and make the living immortal. Akutabi Gamma is one such hunter, collecting the Rings of the Dead in order to obtain the Zombie Powder!

Zombie Loan - Peach-Pit - Incomplete - Reading - ★★★★
* When a human is marked to die, a faint gray line that is invisible to most appears around their neck. As time passes, that ring becomes darker and darker, until it is eventually black, and that person dies. Kita Michiru has an unusual gift, she posses "Shinigami eyes," which allow her to see these rings. When Michiru notices that two of the boys in her Class, Akatsuki Chika and Tachibana Shito not only have rings, but that they're jet black, they reveal to her that they were supposed to die in a tragic accident six months ago. With the help of the Zombie Loan loan office, they were given a second chance at life, should they be able to pay for their debt by doing the work of Shinigami and killing malicious zombies. They petition Michiru to assist them in their efforts, and she finds her everyday life changing dramatically.
There's a nice plot twist about one of the boys that Michiru encounters.  It's a pretty decent manga and recommended.  I should probably get caught up on it.

Please enjoy going through all of these! I'll keep you updated if I add more to these lists.  I've linked this one to part 1 just in case anyone hasn't already seen it.
