  • What sort of profession in the wizarding world would you choose and why?

My ideal job in the wizarding world is the same as in the muggle world - a librarian. I love reading books and have since I was child, so a job where I could (hopefully) inspire other kids/young adults to read and enjoy doing it would be ideal. I love the calm atmosphere in libraries and I love the smell of new and really old books. I love working to find information and the thrill of *finally* finding it. And last but not least I like organizing stuff (all my DVDs are in alphabetical order) and then trying to present it in a manner that makes it interesting.

  • You have to venture deep into the Forbidden Forest one night. Pick one Harry Potter character other than Hagrid and one object (muggle or magical), besides your wand, that you'd want with you.

I would pick Newt Scamander (author of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) to wander the Forbidden Forest with me because he has experience dealing with the more dangerous animals and, as he apparently still has all his limbs, is probably good at not offending animals and getting attacked. He could also regale me with stories about his time spent traveling the world researching his book. Undoubtedly he would have some good one.

If I could take 1 item in to the Forbidden Forest it would be a broomstick, for 2 reasons; a) if I did get attacked by an animal I could make a quick getaway and b) if I get lost coming out - which seems an easy thing to do - I could always jump on my broom and head above the trees to see where Hogwarts was. It would also save me walking back.

  • If you had the opportunity to live forever, but your family and friends did not, what would you choose? And if you did choose to live forever, what would you do with eternity?

No. I'm not really afraid of death (though I am scared of dying in an extremely painful and drawn out way - who isn't?) and I think it would be extremely lonely to live forever and watch all the people you care about die. It can be bad enough as it is dealing with deaths in the normal lifespan but I can't imagine living when everyone around keeps dying. I'd imagine I'd feel quite disconnected from people and probably a little bitter as well.

There's also the practical question about aging - would you age at a slower rate or at the normal rate? I can't imagine living in a 1000 year old body would be either be workable or fun. Even if you aged at a slower rate you would still eventually get to that physical state and your quality of life would be low.

  • If you could travel back in time to one point, when and where would you go? Why?

The Tudor era definitely! In a huge history fan and this is my favorite era. I would love to live in the court of Henry VIII as a lady-in-waiting so that I could serve his Queens! I'd love to find missing information about Anne Boleyn and Katherine Howard (my two favorites), such as the birthdays, how they grew up and of course, how the actually were. There was and still is so much controversy about Anne and Katherine is almost a blank slate so that I'd love to find out the truth about them.

  • What HP character do you identify with most and why?

Nowdays I can't really say I identify strongly with any particular character, though I can see myself in most of the characters.

When I first read the books (way back in Dec 2000) I very much identified with Hermione. Her rather awkward social skills, "good" behavior and bushy hair were very much things I could identify with and understand. Hermione was always much more confident than me about putting herself forward in answering questions than me though - my main aim was just to get through the school day unnoticed. I have got more confident now though, once I know people anyway ;)

I'm also pretty clumsy and blush easily like pre-OoTP Ginny.

  • What would you see if you looked into the Mirror of Erised?

This is a really tricky question and I'm not entirely sure what would be my hearts desire...

I suppose I would be more confident, have a comfortable job - good enough money but not too stressful - and kids - either two or lots. I know it sounds rather plain and boring but it's the best I could come up with.

  • Do you believe that moral actions should be judged by the intentions behind them, or by the consequences they create?

It's a hard one to judge but I think generally the intentions behind an action should weigh more than the outcome. For example, I don't think somebody who accidentally trips someone over should be treated the same as someone who does it on purpose, as someone who does it on purpose means to cause hurt, while someone who does it accidentally had no hurtful intentions.

So roughly 70% intentions vs 30% consequences.

  • What was your ideal job as a kid? Has that changed? What is your ideal job now?

I never had one particular job in mind, I was always changing. When I was about 8 I wanted to be a vet because I loved dogs but then I realised I'd also have to treat other animals like snakes and horses what rather unnerve me. The final nail in that coffin was when I got bit by a dog as it made me wary of dogs for years.

Next I wanted to be a singer. Or more specifically a Spice Girl :D I have many happy memories dancing around in my brother's room (the only one with a tape player) and singing along. Unfortunately I can't sing (and no jokes about how the Spice Girls couldn't either!), so that one ended.

When I was 16 I got really depressed and suicidal and went in to hospital. The nurses were a great help and I decided that I'd like to help people like they did. So I decided on becoming a children's nurse. I did a years worth of work about children and really enjoyed it but when I was doing Health and Social Care I hated it immediately and it was obvious to me that I didn't have the personal skills to be an effective children's nurse. So goodbye to that.

My dream job is pretty much like the job I'd have in the wizarding world, so see the first question.

  • If you were able to invent one spell, potion, or charm, what would it do, what would you use it for or how would you use it, and what would you call it?

A spell that could remove unwanted hair painlessly and mess free. I'd be a multi-millionaire in no time! The spell would be something lame like "Removo!", but short and sweet is the way to go I think.

  • If you were to face a boggart, what would it turn into? And what does it turn into when you throw the counter-spell, Riddikulus?

It'd turn in to a spider like Ron. I will never understand why something needs that many legs or eyes. Seeing as it's the legs that really creep me out I would remove them and have the spider turned on it's back so it would be stuck there unable to move.

  • What do you look for in a friend?

I tend to be attracted to people who are fairly loud and/or don't quite fit in. I'm quite an anxious person, so I always feel better when I'm with someone. If the're loud I tend feel relaxed as the attention isn't on me, but if they don't fit in I feel more confident as I feel that I *have* to stick up for them. I'm much more comfortable fighting someone else's corner than I am fighting my own in general.

  • What trait most annoys you about other people?

Bad mouthing someone behind their back. There are many traits that annoy me but this is the one that never fails to get on my nerves. If you don't like what someone is doing or saying, bloody tell them! If not they will keep doing it and you're end up getting more and more annoyed and it's likely to end in a huge argument, that could have been solved by a few words in the beginning! It's such a simple solution and I really don't get why people don't do it.

  • What do you think are your top five abilities or qualities?

    • Good Memory - I have a really good memory for random facts - not necessarily ones you need on a day to day bases but I'd be good on "Who wants to be a millionaire?". I'm pretty good at remembering quite complex information like the family trees of European monarchies and my own family.
    • Honesty - If you have a spot on your nose, I'm gonna tell you! I don't see any point in not answering a question honestly and while I'm not the most tactful person, I do think this is a good trait.
    • Good Imagination - Whenever I watch a movie or read a book - or just generally see something outside - my mind spins on to the other possibilities like "what happens next?", "how did that happen?" and "how could it be different?". I can spin quite elaborate stories in my head. It can be quite frustrating at times because I don't have the skills to communicate the ideas.
    • Like Learning - I love finding out new things. I'm fairly impatient in general but I have no problems spending hours reading a book or searching the internet to find out something new and I rather enjoy it.
    • Opinionated - I'm not scared of having an opinion and expressing it and I quite like a good argument most of the time. I do find it harder to do online though because I'm constantly editing myself because I think I haven't expressed something properly or I sound stupid.

  • What do you think are your top five weaknesses or worst qualities?

    • Social Awkwardness - This is my big problem. I never feel comfortable with groups of people, being around groups of people for a while always leaves me feeling exhausted as I spend so much time being anxious. I never know what to say and I always feel that people are judging me - even though I know that they're probably not. I'm a definite loner
    • Worrying - I'm also a terrible worrier. Sometimes worrying will keep me up at night, or make me physically sick or bring on a panic attack - not nice at all. I'm better at dealing with it now but I still worry a lot.
    • Temper - I've got a very short temper and get irritated quite quickly - especially if someone doesn't understand what I'm saying.
    • Procrastinating - I'm a terrible procrastinator! It takes me forever to start things, though usually when I've started I'll work pretty steadily. I had this application on my computer for over a week before I started writing any of it.
    • Sensitive - I can be quite sensitive about negative things said about myself. Even if I've asked someone to give criticism, or they've said it as nice as possible, my feelings do get a bit stung. Negative comments linger longer in my mind than positive ones.

  • Define in your own words the following key traits:
    • Courage: is to stand up for something (or someone) that you know is right despite pressure not to.
    • Loyalty: is being there for the bad times as much as you are for the good.
    • Intelligence: is wanting to know the "why" of things and not just the "how".
    • Ambition: is the ability to dream big and to have the will to pursue those dreams.
