If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be? I would increase the amount of empathy in the world, I think if more people took the time to stop and think and relate themselves to other people and their ideas there’d be an increased effort to try and support each other… or at least that’s my hope.
What makes a person respectable? To me, someone respectable is one who is tolerant towards others. They’re intelligent enough to make their own decisions and to draw their own conclusions but aren’t stubborn enough that they aren’t open for discussions. A respectable person has goals that they’d like to achieve and put in healthy amount of time and energy into achieving those goals.
What do you look for in a friend? Trust and kindness are the two big factors I look for in friends. I’d like someone who I can talk earnestly and openly with… someone who doesn’t necessarily agree with every thought I have but is interested in discussing topics and wont judge me negatively if we don’t agree. I don’t think I could stand being close to someone who enjoyed putting others down, I don’t share in that kind of humor. Although having a sense of humor and enjoying laughter is a must! Sharing interests is definitely helpful, gives us some things to talk about!
What are your hobbies? I have quite a few… I’m artistic in a crafty sense which includes anything textile related (knitting and sewing specifically), paper crafts, drawing, painting, sculpting and everything in between. I enjoy daydreaming, reading, hanging out with close friends, outdoor activities (camping, hiking, kayaking, rock climbing, etc.), swimming (I swam competitively since I was six, captain of the swim team my senior year in high school) I love to learn and talk about various topics. I’m an art history major in school so art, history, archaeology and anthropology all sort of stuff themselves into that topic! I love working and learning more about animals. I enjoy games, both tabletop and video and ohhh so many other things. O.O
Have or would you give time and money to a charity? Yes and Yes, I do the local Walk for Hunger every year if I’m around. While I was in high school I did volunteer work for Habitat for Humanity every spring break, I’ve sponsored many animals at various wildlife refuges (mostly at P.A.W.S. in northern California) and many, many other small charitable events. I love helping out for charity and they always need people to support them! I plan on helping out as often as I can!
What is the one thing you would most like to accomplish? I would love to improve on my artistic talents enough so I could make a relatively successful hobby out of doing freelance illustration on the side, practice, practice, practice! I also have a very strong passion for traveling; getting to go and experience new cultures and environments is absolutely amazing! I’m already well traveled but I have a strong desire to travel as far and wide in this world as I can.
Who is your role model? I don’t have a specific person who I look up to, yet there are many, many people who I both know personally and don’t who have traits that I look up to and strive to put to use in my own life.
What trait most annoys you about other people? Willful ignorance. I can’t stand people who would voluntarily continue to firmly believe in false and sometimes even dangerous information even when clear proof or a strong, correct argument has been put up against them. I also dislike people who would intentionally harm or hurt other people both emotionally and physically.
What do you want to do for a living? I have two dreams for my future, one is personal and the other more focused towards my career. I’m an art history major and I’m hoping to continue on in my education (as far as one can go!) and to become a curator of a museum. I would love to get a job in a respectable museum and put together an exhibit that was not only enlightening and enjoyable for adults but fun and interesting for children. I would love to get children interested in art and art history! The more personal dream is to have a nice sizeable land near water (doesn’t matter which, but ocean is preferable) with a good bit of forest growth on it. I’d like to have a small farm with chickens, goats and a donkey. I’d also like the space to shelter/foster abandoned dogs. I would also like space for plants (veggies, fruit, herbs and flowers) and space for a studio so I could keep up with various art projects.
If your friend was attacked (by a person, animal, or (in the magic world) beast), what would you do? I would defiantly rush in and help them as much as I can. If it’s in the magical world I would probably immediately start railing off every defensive/protective curse I know! If it’s not in the magical world I’d probably do my best to try and separate the two things (without getting too hurt myself!) I’m not exactly the strongest person so if it looks like I can’t help physically I would be running to find someone else who could help.
Would you ever use an Unforgivable Curse for any reason? This is a really tough question. My first instinct was to say “No” because I would never willingly put myself into any sort of situation where an Unforgivable Curse was necessary. However, I am aware that sometimes situations arise and if it was a serious life-or-death situation in which I needed to defend myself and any other available option had already been exhausted then yes… yes I would use an Unforgivable Curse. Never would I attempt to kill anybody, though.
What do you think are your top five abilities or qualities?
1.Intelligence/Wisdom: I am a variable sponge and I enjoy learning above all else.
2.Level Headed: I am calm and collected and can think evenly in stressful situations.
3.Empathy: I find it very easy to relate to others problems. I find if I can put myself in their shoes mentally it’s easier for me to see where they are coming from.
4.Loyalty: I am extremely devoted to my close friends. They know that I would do anything for them. I’m a good listener, open-minded, cheerful and enjoy a good joke; I try to make my friendship a safe haven for them to come and unburden themselves and/or to have fun!
5.Creativity: I’m good with my hands and have a very active and creative imagination.
What do you think are your top five weaknesses or worst qualities?
1.Stubbornness: Although I try to keep an open mind, there are times when I can really dig my heels.
2.Naiveté: Although I am intelligent and world travel and hardly innocent, I still tend to be absurdly optimist and often trust people too easily. This has led to lots of heartbreak in the past and probably will continue to in the future.
3.Lack of Focus: I’m very easily distracted. I have thousands of projects that I’ve started and got excited about only to abandon them before completion and move onto something else.
4.Laziness: Although I have a clean-streak to me, I can be very lazy… I’m very good at procrastination and have no problem living in a messy nest (up to a point, that is!)
5.Shyness: My shyness is debilitating. I have lost many opportunities because my shyness has gotten in the way. This is the singular most frustrating aspect of my personality that I don’t like and is proving the hardest to overcome. New people scare me to death, large crowds? Forget it. I’m horrible at small talk which also adds to the awkwardness of meeting new people.
Define in your own words the following key traits:
Courage: The ability to stand up for what you believe is right and to face your fears.
Loyalty: To stand by and support a friend through thick and thin… not just through the fun joking times, but during the harder aspects of life as well.
Intelligence: The thirst for knowledge and the ability to process that knowledge in your own way; to make your own decisions based on what you have learned.
Ambition: The determination to achieve your goals that you have set. To take everything in its own stride but to continue working forward and upward.
Name: Kathryn, but commonly called Kate or Kana if you know me online.
Age: 21
What house do you think DOESN'T fit you? I do not believe that I would be suited for Slytherin. I don’t feel that I have the drive or ambition that is suited for that house, but you might feel otherwise!
