I was having a conversation with a friend tonight about the style "steampunk" and how it's hard to find or not even around anymore. It's kinda sad as I kinda liked that whole 'style' even if it was over done. For those of you who don't know what steampunk is...
"'Steampunk' fashion has no set guidelines, but tends to synthesize punk, goth and rivet styles as filtered through the Victorian era. This may include Mohawks and extensive piercings with corsets and tattered petticoats, Victorian suits with goggles and boots with large soles and buckles or straps, and the Lolita fashion and Elegant Gothic Aristocrat styles. Some of what defines steampunk fashion has come from cyberpunk, and cyberlocks have appeared being used by people adopting a steampunk look."
Really the best way to describe it is Victorian poofy/classy meets a steam machine haha. I would classify it more as a mechanical victorian style, rather then another sub category of Cyberpunk, though I can see why people would go that route.
I was looking for some pictures to depict this style and hit a dead end. However I found a plethora of odd devices and sculptural art that was simply amazing.
