That is the produce code for whole pineapples. Someone went through all of ours and ripped off the tags with the barcode. The guy at the register next to mine yesterday had no onboard chart of produce codes (for some reason it wouldn't open up) and he turned to me to ask if I knew it, or could look it up. Didn't have to look it up; I simply quoted it to him. Oh, the look on his face! Yeah, dude, I've memorized it. I got a kick out of that.

Made some progress a couple of ways yesterday. I have a birdcall identifying MP3 on my player now. From a cd which came with a Peterson guide a while ago. I think the bird I hear constantly outside is a house finch.
I called RIT; the financial aid package should be here this week, so we can get down to brass tacks. I was worried we'd missed some sort of deadline, and Em has to make up her mind definatively by the end of the month.

I splurged on a cat toy yesterday. Best fifteen bucks I've spent in a long time. It's one of those three-toys in one housing jobs, and at one point Zoey was on the floor, had her paws wrapped around it, and was essentially playing ping-pong with herself. Hilarious.

Ray mentioned our friend Cheryl who wrote a book with her son. Cheryl's family is pretty amazing. Her husband, Bruce, is a doctor and currently is in Haiti helping people there. He said recently he sees an average of 100 people a day.
Speaking of hubbies in far-off places, the husband of one of my favorite supervisors at work is in Kuwait. Gregory signed up for service in the navy there because of the pay and bonuses and such. Evidently, both parents each working two jobs still wasn't cutting it. Amy is one of the hardest-working, brightest, and funniest people I've ever met. I think of her and him and his situation often.
