Just took the bungie cord off Ray's car. Glue job looks great, seems as though it will hold well.
We watched Out of Africa last night, after our minister mentioned it in his sermon yesterday. I'd forgotten that Robert Redford's character is supposed to have carried a wind-up phonograph almost everywhere with him, and there's one point where Karen comes back to her house after a long day processing coffee, to find Denys sleeping in a porch chair with the phonograph beside him. It's playing Mozart's clarinet concerto in A major, which is also featured in the soundtrack for the movie Green Card, which we adore. A while ago I mentioned that movie and that piece to our neighbor Sally, whose background in classical music puts mine to shame, and she remarked, "Oh! That's one of the most romantic concertos!" So last night it was like recognising an old friend in an unfamiliar context, to hear it in Out of Africa. I've listened to more classical music than I usually do while home recuperating, which I'm sure added to my joy.
Speaking of another entirely different type of music, I caught All Things Considered recently, and they did a feature on Nitin Sawhney, an amazing musician/composer of Indian parents who grew up in London. Eclectic, funky, but not at all hard to listen to. Ray downloaded one album of his yesterday for me. I am grateful.
