I thought I'd post a picture of the view from my chair near the front window, of the gardens out front at night. This has been simultaneously easier and more complicated than one might think. More complicated because I have three lights on timers inside the house. They're on timers because access to regular means of turning them on and off is hard. To get a good shot out the window, they need to be off, or they'll illuminate parts of the house which then show up superimposed on what I want to show.
The easier bit is adjusting the camera. After what, five to ten years, I've discovered there's a setting on it which allows me to take a shot purely with ambient light, no flash and no setting of speed or aperture. Well, here we are:
I find it so soothing to look out on this at night. I know some people may consider it light pollution, and I understand why, but it has a profound comforting effect on me. I imagine that's because I designed everything that's out there and planted much of it. It's like my own little personal park.
