Yesterday was insane at the store. Five-and-a-half hours of Chicken Little - "The sky is falling! It's going to snow!", etc.
It was so friggin busy we had baggers. Crazy.
A customer bought me a cup of coffee. How sweet. When I arrived, management decided to make me the go-to girl for everybody's breaks, so I floated from register to register. Unable, therefore, to anticipate where I would be, I couldn't adjust my clothing for warmth. Register 23 is quite near the front door. Cold, man. The customer felt sorry for me and bought me a cuppa, which I enjoyed during my break.
A woman who works in accounting heard the latest ad for Farmers & Artisans on the radio, and Sue reported to me that they mention my recipes. Not naming me, of course, but it's a nifty little thrill to know I've become a feather in their cap.
Today was extremely quiet, but I was scheduled to work in the aisles, and it was bliss. I am as social as they come, but there is another side to me which loves order and neatness and enjoys that kind of work.

Somewhere along the way, perhaps because of the process of getting Em into college and so on, I neglected to get my latest lipid profile done, to check for cholesterol. Monday I got that out of the way. Today I made appointments for Ray and me to have colonoscopies later this month. Tomorrow I'm going to try to get an appointment for a mammogram. I absolutely loathe the office where I've had them done most recently. It's huge, very well-organized, but dark. It's a bitch to read in there, which drives me nuts because when I'm nervous, I need something to focus my mind on. I'm almost always nervous because mammograms are not pleasant. The ambiance in there doesn't help. I feel like a cow, frankly, shunted from one room to another. I'm hoping I can get an appointment at the alternative practice, which is much smaller.
