In 2004 I started keeping a haphazard record of which books I read, thanks to writing short reviews here on LJ. In 2006, after realizing that my time is limited and the number of books to read approaches infinity, I started creating yearly lists of books I want to read ( Read more... )

A few authors you might like (in your attempt to read from other cultures/female authors):

Amy Tan
Jhumpa Lahiri
Julia Alvarez
Chimamanda Nagozi Adichie

I realize you've got a long list already, but I didn't see any of the above on it & I love all of their writing (perhaps you might not... but I thought I'd share)

Thanks! I've read a couple of Amy Tan's books, but the others are not familiar to me. I'll check them out. :)

I honestly don't have any area in my life I organize, at least I don't make lists like that. However if I wanted to take that goodread challenge, I have read the, could I call it a modern classic, On the road. That must be like ten states in one book.

Yeah, that would cover a fair bit of territory. :p

If I weren't focusing on mysteries I could use the various travelogues I've read. At least one of them involved a guy walking all the way across the U.S.

You've read books set in a lot of different countries. I think it would be interesting to gather those into a list. After all you can make up any sort of challenge that appeals to you. :)
