a story of Jordan the rat

Jordan has this thing he does. It could be annoying, but he's so cute when he does it that I cannot help but be amused.

Jordan's cage lives on the floor. When I come to say hello, feed him, or because we are going to go play, I crouch down in front of it. The cage door opens onto my knees. He climbs up the ramp of the door, and it used to be I scooped him up and gave him kisses on his head and neck.

But lately his favorite thing, before I can scoop, is to dive down the front of my shirt. He noses about a bit, then he turns around and pops his little head up, right in the center of my neckline, and looks at me. That little head poking up is so freaking adorable that while I always start to get annoyed when he dives down my shirt (mainly because his claws are in desperate need of trimming, and because he has been known to nibble on my bra), I am slain by the cute and lose any irritation.

Then, if he is not in BounceZoom! mode, he climbs out and snuggles into the space between my torso, leg, and elbow, and I pet him, and this is one of the ways we give each other ratty hugs.
