Perhaps my approach to my profile on OKC is all wrong? Would any of
these ads translate to our California-American sensibilities?
(Then again, my OKC profile mostly exists to give me a place to store addictive and amusing quizzes, so I'm not sure I care. But the differences in style do amuse me).

Edit: Jed informs me that Sarah Lyall did an article on this in the New York Times, about a year ago. Jon Carroll is not only late to the game, he fails to point out that the unusual ads are apparently particular to the London Review of Books, not to the entire nation.
