Yes, I remember very distinctly the point at which I found this out. I was in my first week or so at my new school in PA, after we moved from DE when I was 8. It was my first time in music class at the new school, and the teacher, after introductions, announced that I could pick what we would learn about that day. She gave me the choice between Beethoven and something else. I remember wondering just what Beethoven had to do with music class, but it sounded like fun, so I picked it/him, and the next thing I know, we were learning about some boring composer guy who went deaf and spent lots of time staring off into space (we spent a good deal of time watching a documentary type thing). Still, it was better than my music class in DE, which, when we had it, consisted of a moody lady banging on a piano and insisting, loudly, that we sing songs about friendship.
I was really proud that my new classmates didn't catch on to my initial canine superstitions, though... that would have definitely sucked, and not won me any new kid coolness points. (Not that I had many at any point. But that's another story.)
