Day Nineteen: "Exit Humanity"

Oct 19, 2012 09:47

Exit Humanity does the Civil War zombie thing much better than Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies.

Mixing live-action and classical animation, Exit Humanity tells about a young man, Edward, who is trying to survive zombies during the Civil War. He moves around a lot, loses a lot of his family (I remember his mum and da dying), and then moves in with a witch who teaches him how to get rid of zombies.

At least, that's what I remember. It's been a while since I've seen this, and it looks like I'm one of maybe four people to have seen it. It's a very low budget (CAD 300,000 according to IMDB) Canadian film.

I remember really liking it. My twitter review reads, "A much better Civil War zombie film than "Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies." This is actually a pretty good film, and it makes good use of the premise. Even if the opening text scrawl is unnecessary and takes me out of the film." (I've said that about numerous opening text scrawls. I said that about a text scrawl just this week.)

However...I don't really remember the film. So if you're interested in zombies during the Civil War or in independent or Canadian cinema, I recommend it. But I can't really give you any ideas if you'll like it. Sorry.
