Dammit, it's tshirt weather today, except for under the vent in my office :(
Weekend was lovely. Was halfa late to Daria's on Friday night, but Lauren's flight was delayed anyway. Neiman there already. Fleur arrived with Lauren a short while later. Headed out to
Platform 3 and
Public House (the former a little trendite perhaps). Just cos they're local. Had a few beers and a lot of catchup. Somehow it was 2am, and we'd already decided to meet for breakfast at 9:30, and I was already sleep deprived from the week, so home to bed.
Up a little too early (9ish), picked up Daria and Lauren, and met Fleur and Neiman at
the Richmond Hill Café and Larder for poached eggs on spinach with anchovy sauce for me, and various pancakes with berries, avocado on toast, toasted cheese with eggplant and chilli, and their home-made baked beans for everyone else. Quite lovely, perhaps a little expensive. Fleur and Neiman left to do other things, and Daria, Lauren and I wandered Bridge Rd.
Shopping. Was a bit tiring really. Can I be bothered updating about it? Was fun to wander the streets and chat, but I was really just keeping Lauren and Daria company. I guess I was also thinking I was hanging out until we got to Smith St so I could pick up a replacement pair of
No Sweats (the sole of one of my current pair is worn through). Unfortunately, we got to Smith St and stopped for a late late lunch (at
Soul Food) and by the time we finished,
FoE was closed :(
Got Fleur to meet us for a wander through Fitzroy. Lauren managed to find a cool pair of cufflinks as a thank-you present to BJ for this weekend trip. Then got Neiman to meet us for a martini at
Ginger. I had an oyster martini, which was too sweet - they added a pear liqueur or something. Surely savoury is the way to go with martinis? Then back to Fleur and Neiman's for breakbeat and wine and some really good Burmese takeaway. Still not caught up on sleep, so made excuses to catch the last public transport home and was in bed by 1230.
Up (10am, still a bit too early) for more shopping. Whatever. Naturally, I'd brought a book. We had greek for lunch. Then Lauren off home again.
Other news: just spent rather too much on a laptop. The only expense I really feel ambivalent about is getting the accident-cover/theft-insurance. Was kinda expensive, geek friends generally don't seem to bother and seem to think it's a ripoff, but this is my first big purchase since... And I haven't really had my own laptop before and I don't know how rough I'm gonna be with it and don't have home and contents insurance (cos I don't really own much of worth), and our house *was* just
broken into a couple of months ago. And I guess I need it for peace of mind or something.
