Weekend

After work on Friday and the long drive, I made it home about 7:30pm I think. Had arranged to meet Elle and Della 9:30ish. Have a quick work recap with housemates, then hot shower. Tram over to Elle's place. Drinks with her and Della and Evan. Borrowed Cloud Atlas from Elle. Doug Scot? Brogue? Diver? Traveller? came home from soccer, and we had a bit of a catch up since he's just back from several weeks diving on The Reef. Then out for the breakbeat night we had a good time at a few weeks ago. They played drum and bass for FOUR HOURS. Had a bit of a boogie, talked a bit, but last time was so good and breaky, had such a good stomp, was so much better. Kept waiting for the next dj to change... (last time we didn't get there till 3, this time we got there at midnightish). Had to leave after the dj who came on at 3:30 showed no sign of deviating from the boringness. Went to more reliable club after and danced till 8 or 9. Mmm... dance endorphins. Home for a shower, then into city to run errands all day (yay tram reading time).

It felt like everyone was staring at me. Or at least a lot more people than usual. Was probably partly sleep deprivation, and partly the fact that I was wearing a really primary (PbI) yellow jumper which I hardly ever wear - a nicely cut and fitted small-weave v-neck which I like a lot, but it's very bright. I may need to be feeling extra confident (or maybe sleep-deprived) to wear it. And am sure I heard random other pedestrians waiting with me at the traffic lights talking about my pants (quite, um... phat, but also a very conservative dark blue-grey).

Tried to look for/buy overdue presents, birthday cards, and things. Also thought about finding a day club for just a smidgen more of a boogie (but didn't). Discovered a secondhand book market event thingy near Fed Square and bought How the Mind Works. Started reading it straightaway while walking down the street.

Thought about going home for a nap, but instead went by Hyper's work and went for a late lunch and caught up (new place fine, Cake is being a troublesome housemate, upcoming travel plans, uni). Then went home (yay train reading time). A couple of punkish looking young chaps in head-to-toe black at the train station were totally having a discreet little chortle together (not offensively) at the brightness of my jumper. It be ridiculous that people *here* of all places, who must surely see actual fashion weirdness daily, could possibly find anything out of the ordinary in anything I would ever wear (except maybe my animal pants).

Dressed for dinner. Went and met Haclev and friends (yay tram reading time) for his birthday dinner at a Thai place in Brunswick. Overheard middle-aged couple who got off the tram with me talking about me having a baby-face like their son.

Delish dinner. Then drinks in the city. Supposed to also go to Richmond for birthday drinks for The Mechanic - one of the two main bogans - and company (Maneater, etc.), or possibly meet up with them in the city later, but toooo tired. Vaguely recall some mad texting on tram of apologies and birthday wishes and almost falling asleep midtext and dropping phone. Slept really really well (apart from 6:30am wakeup by The Artist who left her keys in the city somewhere).
