1. There is a job being advertised which I would not be that likely to get (although I can see how I could sell myself for it), but am wondering whether I should apply anyway. Unfortunately the main pluses are practical - more $ and probably good for career (length and quality) and also a more convenient commute. Minuses are that it will be more stress, longer hours, and in a research area I'm only partially interested in (and if I don't get it, it may reflect badly on future applications at same institution?).
2. Coats are currently on sale all over Melbs. Have been meaning to get one for some months (possibly years). Had grey/charcoal duffel-ish in mind, but have found a black one of v nice cut and at a good price. Unfortunately at same store is a grey one of also at least as nice a cut, at an unreasonably high price. I am not willing to spend the unreasonable amount, but can I settle for black w the grey so nearby? Will I be better off not getting any and just muddling through winter (as I have the last couple)?
Advice/thoughts/shouts-of-"first-world-problem!" welcome.
