Doctor Who 4x00: Voyage of the Damned
Slightly shorter than my usual vast torrents of insanity, I guess, but including it for anyone who's interested in further squeeage about the Doctor Who Christmas Special. DAMMIT I CAN'T BELIEVE WE DON'T GET NEW EPISODES UNTIL LIKE MARCH. GAHHH.

2. Midshipman Alonzo Frame = WIN. <333333
3. Prosthetics on gold people = WIN.
4. LOVE ASTRID. LOVE HER. OMG SO SAD WHY DOES THE DOCTOR LOSE EVERYONE HE LOVES. OR COULD LOVE. I'm going to be unabashed here and say that he gravitated to Astrid immediately because she reminded him of Rose: blonde, making do with her boring life, dreaming of something more. Plus she totally squeed about visiting another planet, and it was so CUTE; it's the first time the Doctor (in the new series, anyway) has grabbed someone else's hand and I haven't felt angry about it. But Astrid was so incredibly COMPETENT, too. She's got to be the most competent of new companions since Romana. There was no hesitation at all, just KICKASSERY. And then the Doctor trying so hard to get her back just broke my fucking heart. And that was a really sweet kiss. I half thought he was going to tell her he loved her before she left, just because he never got to say it to Rose. OH DOCTOR YOU'RE STILL HURTING EVEN IF YOU DON'T SAY IT. YOU SAID SHE WAS HOME.
4. GEOFFREY PALMER FROM AS TIME GOES BY!!!!!! My ultimate old-man husband. Mmmm. Wish he didn't have to be evil, though.
5. He has already said "Take me to your leader!" Nine said that in "Aliens of London." IS THE DOCTOR'S MEMORY THAT SHORT?!
6. Nerd!glasses and a tux? David Tennant, are you trying to fucking kill me?
7. On a related note, when David Tennant says "I'm a Time Lord" it gives me this very intense tingle of pleasure. Anyone else feel that?
8. WHERE WAS BILLIE PIPER IN THE S4 TRAILER?!!?!! WHERE?!! FUCKING FUCKETTY FUCK! ASSHOLES!!!!
9. Catherine Tate looks hot. But it looks like they're doing the unrequited love thing again, and I just want to say, PRODUCERS, WHYWHYWHYWHYWHY DO YOU HATE US SO MUCH.
10. Overall, well done. Sad. Touching. Exciting. Funny. Original. (I ACTUALLY LIKED ALL OF THE SUPPORTING CHARACTERS. SERIOUSLY. THANKGOD.) Not a lot of bullshit. But when David Tennant was fighting the gold whirly things with his pipe/sword, half of me was going "JESUS THAT'S HOT" and the other half of me was going, "When will Russell finally check into rehab? STOP DOING THE DRUGS. STOP IT WITH THE DRUGS!!!!"
11. David Tennant is jesusing hot. I'm not sure I was clear enough about that before, so I'm saying it again. WILL YOU JUST LOOK AT HIM.
12. Love the Titanic thing. I complained about it originally because they need to have historicals about NEW events so that people can LEARN and not just rehash old tired things, but this wasn't the actual Titanic, and it ended up being cool! But I'm still hoping those flashes I saw in the S4 trailer were for interesting historicals that haven't been overdone. Ehh? EHHH??! (Also, nothing about the people in third class. HA! Unsurprising. Oh, Russell, you elitist.)
* In the end I had to rewatch "Her name was Rose" from last year and cry to feel right again. Aww. AWWW.
Overall, though? WAY FUCKING BETTER than last year. Entertaining and Whoey and I liked it. Also David Tennant wore a tux. I'm only human.
