Had a good meeting today with Bill and Tony. Gosh, these guys both know so much and have oodles of energy. We discussed many things to do with the ASISTM grant and I agreed to start work on a monthly podcast, drawing upon all the talents of our cluster. I had blogged some experiences of doing this once before with creative commons sharing on
Archive.org and guidelines for this with
Just a Minute. Things have changed, one there was a time when we would just throw together a web page or CDROM, now we are dealing with blogging and podcasting our collective ideas.
It was good again to show off our home building project to Bill and Tony. Tony stayed briefly back to help identify some of the
nasty Oxalis weeds that we have growing on our property. He pointed out to me the characteristic kidney shaped leaves and how to best remove and destroy them. I got all excited and took some samples in to show L but she laughed, pointing out that if I had paid more attention then I would have noticed her pulling these old weeds out as she behind me in the garden. Here is a good
on-line weed identification tool that I just found.
Tomorrow is going to be a scorcher with a forecast of 42 C and total fire-ban. Gary is coming here early (eek 0600!) to help me cut down some old dying wattles and clear away any combustible rubbish. Then it will be time to plant some new trees.
I was going to write something this evening about Web 2.0. After a quick search of my contacts it seems that Bill had taken the lead in his blog with a
good article reflecting on Web 2.0. I agree with his closing thoughts that it represents a migration "from desktop to webtop .. the feel of the new replacing the old."
