Coco Before Chanel is an emotionally sophisticated movie with a mostly unsophisticated plot, so depending on your tastes for storytelling you will either be engaged or bored to tears. Intriguing, but only in fits and starts, Across The Universe, the new musical film featuring only songs written by The Beatles, is a mess. The plot is hashed together with fragments from HAIR the musical and the collective album covers of Cruisin 1959 through 1968. After Easter Dinner at my Dad's last night we went down to the Cumberland Theatres to see BRICK. It was awesome fantastic. It's a hard-boiled noir film set in a California High School which makes for an amusing juxtaposition but doesn't get overly cute.
