Some Ka-Blamo News
I know several of you out there are fans of The Lonely Island Web site, just like me. Well, I just found out that The Dudes from over at The Lonely Island got jobs at Saturday Night Live this season! To which I say: Good for them! I know it's very trendy to bash SNL these days, but there's no denying that it's a great place to hone skills and potentially launch a career in movies or television. Anyway, I read that Andy will be joining the SNL cast as a featured player, while Akiva and Jorma will be part of the SNL writing staff. Although The Dudes' material tends to be hit or miss, when they're good, they're really, really good. Just check out their songs "The Heist" or "Ka-Blamo" or their series of shorts "The 'Bu", that pokes fun at shows like "The OC". Basically, they strike me as a group of really talented amateurs who just need more focus, experience and polish. And I think that, if they can withstand the ultra-competitive atmosphere at SNL, they might really develop a name for themselves as comedic talents. On the other hand, SNL has also been known to suck all the funny and creative force out of a person. Regardless, I'm very interested to see what happens.
