so my life has changed soooo much in this past month it's not even funny. okay, well it actually kind of is... let's break it down:
school:
school had been... a complete bitch. this past week i thought i was going to die. for my architectural history class we had a massive group project due where we had to re-create the facade of a 16th cetury classic building by andrea palladio. &i had to do ALL the flipping drawings (elevation, sectional, floorplan, etc.) in 3 days BY HAND. yeah... BITCH. then for my IGE class i had to do like 6 papers since i never did them earlier in the quarter. my design studio class sucks major balls right now because i'm so behind in my design it's ridiculous. not to mention the fact that i havent showing up for my design crits by my professor. whatev... he can suck it. i really want to change my major. i dont even give a beep anymore... i already KNOW that even with a degree in architecture i'd never become an architect. its nothing like i envisioned it to be, and i want out... seriously. i found that i'm way more interested in the presentation/graphic side of design so i want to major in graphic design now!!! and then maybe minor in techincal theater (stage/lighting design) because i always loved that, too... i dont know. everythings too messed up and i just want SUMMER here. :(
work:
work is the only thing that keeps me sane. my last day in the emporium was on saturday (march 4th) and can i just say that i LOVE my disney friends?! when i showed up to work there was this gigantic ALADDIN poster that everone wrote messages on and signed!!! NOT TO MENTION that my favorite person aka d-mix got me this fantastic book that's FILLED with messages from everyone on main street wishing me good luck in entertainment. awwww... seriously made my week!! PLUS my managers threw a party for me upstairs in the managers office and we had pizza & cake & beef jerky & buffalo wings & cactus cooler (it's my favorite drink, haha) I LOVE THEM!!!!!!
i'm seriously going to miss these people. i never really thought about how i made a difference in the emporium, but after reading all the messages in the book/poster i started to think about it and i guess that i really had a place there. i always thought that i was just another face among the lead staff who didnt really have that much of an influence on how the place was. i guess i mattered? haha... aww i love the E-M-P. it's my OG HOME fo sho. but i can honestly say that i believe i made the right decision in transfering to parades/entertainment at disney. i can already tell work is going to be a BLAST.
yesterday i had my entertainment department orientation... OMG SO MUCH FUN!!!! we started out by taking a tour of the facilities. where the BLOCK PARTY message board was and what to look out for. we went around the locker rooms/athletic trainer room/costuming place/everything else! it's so strange. OH and we went into the makeup/wig room. i've never seen so many wigs in my life. after that we did a tour of the parades part of the building where all the BPB/EP/POD costumes are. thennnn we went upstairs and they showed us all this administration stuff. thennn we had a rather lengthy classroom style instruction of parades & show supprt policies. ummm OH & they showed me the character distress signal!!! then they showed us a picture of cinderella doing it, haha she looked gangstaaa. we played a game called "IT COST HOW MUCH?!" holy poop parades costumes are freaking expensive!!! a royal court dancer in cinderella's ball cost 15,000 to make start to finish. holy pooop. they told us that block party costumes range from 2,000-3,000 for the whole set. .... whhhyyyy? haha.
after that we went to DCA and walked the backstage area/parade route. it's a lot to remember where everthing but i'll get it, haha. it was strange having them tell us all this stuff we have to remember on route. i always thought the people in the parade just walked down their route, did their show stop, and then did it again but theres more to it. they were telling us where "parade 1" (manager i guess) is and where manager's are stationed. we were showed where there were inclines/decline on route and where out floats hae to speed up/slow down. they showed us the visual clues about where everything should be by a certain time in the music for the rest of the parade to synchronize with the parading/dancing. there are certain places where you prep for choreography, then start choreography, then do end-gate choreography, then you can do character stuff, then finally stop choreography. it's A LOT to remember but i'm super freaking excited to start!! we have our first rehearsals today and i can't WAIT!!! we learn the whole parade in 3 days then we have a month to clean then i open!!! ahhhhh :)
friends:
i can honestly say that i have the best friends anyone can ask for. i have a fav person who's always got my back and is GOOD FOR ME!!!! ive got my mexicans who i can't live without (diego&drigo). i've got the awesome lyn-hizzle to share my disney joy with haha. and lets not forget the TWINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! &all the other wonderful people that make life worthwhile.seriously thank you to everyone for being in my life. i'm truly thankful for everyone, i can't say it enough.
en general:
while my life has some of it's bumps i seriously love the life that i'm living. i've got the best dream job in the UNIVERSE, my friends are soooo better than anyone elses, my family rocks, and i'm finally ready to take control of my education and do what I want to do with my future life.
