Casting a wary glance at Lelouch, who was currently wrapped around him, Rolo pondered the prince's question. "First we have to find a phone, Brother," he replied and began to lead Lelouch towards another store. Most likely, a convenience type store would be what they'd need, as a pay phone could probably be found there.

With Lelouch's arm wrapped around his shoulder, it was easier for Rolo to half drag, half guide him to a possible destination. Ahead, bright neon lights illuminated the front of a store that boasted twenty-four hour service. Just outside, Rolo could make out several phones hanging on the wall of the building. It was towards these that he directed Lelouch.

Lelouch winced as the obnoxious neon lighting came into view and shielded his eyes from some of the brightness by nestling into Rolo’s hair, fully relying on the shorter teen to not only be his personal walking stick but his eyes as well. Never before would he have entrusted his wellbeing to someone so completely and entirely, except perhaps Suzaku once upon a time. But indeed those days were as far off and distant as the old fairytales he used to read to Nunnally before she went to sleep. Lelouch no longer had anyone that could come close to the way he’d once trusted Suzaku. At least, while he was sober.

As they approached the phones, Lelouch picked his head up and stared at the somewhat old-fashioned device blankly, as if he expected his gaze to make it magically work. He then spotted the coin slot and gave up on helping along their little endeavor altogether, now positive he didn’t have the means to do so.

“You have any of th’ curr’ncy of this world, Rolo?”

The feeling of Lelouch burying his face into his hair made Rolo suddenly light headed. He'd never experienced intimacy on such a level and it took everything he had to not stop and simply let Lelouch do as he pleased in his drunken stupor. He couldn't stop himself, however, from turning and embracing Lelouch. His hands were placed on Lelouch's back and he allowed Lelouch to use his hair as means to block out the harsh light from the store front.

Lelouch's smell encompassed him once more, and Rolo delightedly breathed it in. "Mm, yes," he replied to Lelouch's inquiry. "I stole some from the bar before we left. I don't know if it's enough, though. I hope so."

Moving one hand from Lelouch's back, Rolo reached into his own pocket and withdrew the change that he had taken. The amounts were written on the currency, making it somewhat easier to understand, yet he didn't know how the monetary system of the world worked. "I... I'm going to let go now, so I can make the call? Ok?" he asked, reluctantly.

Kallen really wasn't liking where this day was heading. They had been transported to this new world recently and though she found it somewhat enjoyable. Other than the fact that she had to play watchdog to Lelouch and his "acquaintance" all day (who she still didn't know who he was), she thought she might begin to enjoy this place...emphasis on might, of course.

She saw him enter a bar and was going to join him but decided against it. But still watched from the scenes. She could handle a strong Lelouch any day, but this...she frankly didn't know what to do with him now ( ... )

While Rolo was regretfully away from him taking care of matters through the phone, Lelouch had wandered over to a nearby bench to sit and wait until he was finished. Or at least tried to, anyway. The moment he’d heard Rolo say the words “Lord Suzaku”, he was jarred out of his concentration he’d been using to lower himself onto the piece of outdoor furniture and came tumbling to the ground.

The prince sat there blinking for a few seconds to comprehend what had happened but ultimately found his clumsiness, his circumstances, too amusing, or just too absurd not to laugh at. When the first one he’d barked out sounded a bit too loud, he clamped his free hand over his mouth and continued his snickering a bit more discreetly for Rolo's sake ( ... )

Her eyes were now bugged out of her sockets and stared at her former leader trying to asses what exactly was going on. Of course she knew he was drunk there was no lying about that. She could think of all the possible terms to come up with that could describe his state, but she was coming up empty. Plus words tend to not be useful when you are literally stunned speechless.

The way he spoke was very very un-Lelouch, the situation was very un-Lelouch. He walked sluggishly almost like his body didn't want to walk. If she didn't know any better she would think she would be seeing things. It was when he held out his hand that she she began to come back to reality. She stared at his hand and then back at him, she tried to speak but her mouth open and closed ( ... )

As if there wasn’t quite enough un-Lelouch-ness to their encounter, the royal blooded Britannian regarded Kallen with a pout, his lower lip jutting out just so from where it was set upon the frown on his face. Why was Kallen so on edge about their unexpected reunion? Shouldn’t they be happy to see each other? Rolo didn’t seem to have a problem with him as he was presently except when it came to walking. What could he possibly have done already to upset his former classmate ( ... )

Effectively interrupted from his job-hunting, Suzaku strode purposefully down the sidewalk, taking in only enough to make sure he wasn’t walking head-first into trouble while his mind ran circles around the useless being that was Lelouch.

First, he nearly managed to get both their asses killed in Shinjuku, for no reason at all, and really Suzaku couldn’t be sure if Lulu’s presence there had been as innocent as he’d led the knight to believe now that he knew what he did about Lelouch’s intentions as a terrorist leader. Then he went and shot his brother, which speaks for itself. He endangered the student council with his terrorist antics and absurd craving for the spotlight. Twice. His selfish will and careless flaunting of his demonic power now means Suzaku no longer has the ability to die on his own terms and so helpfully resulted in his arrest for the second time in his life. Which only serves to remind Suzaku that every time he’s been arrested, it’s ultimately been Lelouch’s fault. He somehow, and Suzaku’s still not really sure ( ... )

It didn’t take long for Lelouch to become bored with the wait the trio had reluctantly agreed upon, especially with a sore cheek and a sore disposition to go with it. With help, the prince managed to retake his seat on the nearby bench for a little added comfort to what he was receiving from Rolo, and with more help, the bothersome seal preventing him from getting to the liquid he was currently convinced could solve any and all problems was broken. Only after accomplishing these small tasks did the wait no longer seem so bad. In fact, nothing really seemed so bad anymore once Lelouch had a couple more sips of wine in him ( ... )

“Kuru...rururugi...”

As Lelouch stood there, persistently trying to sound out the name that made his blood boil, his heart sink, and a dual sense of nagging regret and betrayal to stir within him, he seemed to progressively forget what he’d been trying to address the other for in the first place.

“Kurusuru...”

Suzaku. He’d gone so far as to use Nunnally to bait him into revealing his identity. It was an ultimate offense in Lelouch’s book. But then again, Nunnally had the protection he’d always wanted for her from his most trusted friend. ...Or at least she would if this whole world displacement hadn’t occurred.

“Kururugiru...”

How could he possibly trust Suzaku anymore though? After selling him out to the Emperor. That was the only way he ever would have gotten to wear the clothes that he did on his back. Because Suzaku threw their friendship away for the world. The world he refused to work together with him to change ( ... )

Meanwhile, Rolo stared from where he was sitting on the bench. Lelouch's actions had taken a turn for the... insane, apparently. It took everything he had to keep up a facade of the concerned brother and not to make a face at Lelouch's affectionate new nickname for the Knight of Seven.

"Lord Kururugi," Rolo started, getting up from his seat and fighting down the frustrating blush that threatened to appear. Slight anger was boiling in his blood as well. This man, his boss, was the one who had sold out Lelouch to the Emperor. It was true that he had to be somewhat grateful to him, because had Lelouch never been caught, Rolo would not have been able to meet his brother. But that didn't change the fact that Suzaku had hurt Lelouch, and on multiple occasions ( ... )

Lelouch was relieved that the members of his strange little party had finally agreed to continue onwards towards home. Yes, that was the main issue here. Everything else could be dealt with later after they were in more...discreet confines. Of course. That only made sense.

But Lelouch wasn’t making the most sense at the moment and instead of immediately conveying his relief, he only looked hurt that his previous question to Suzaku had resulted in such a harsh outburst. Did Suzaku...not consider them friends anymore? But...why else would he have come to his rescue, in true damsel in distress style, and volunteer to carry him off to safety? Surely there must have been some fondness between them, right ( ... )
