November in Alabama

The second day of my visit we went to Cathedral Cavern. Since I'm more than a tad claustrophobic I wasn't sure how that would work out but the ceiling was never less than 25 feet above our heads so I was pretty much able to forget we were a couple hundred feet under the ground.

The next day we went to the other extreme and visited the Space and Rocket Center.

When we weren't out running the streets, I helped my niece with her school report on Ronald Reagan. Fortunately for her card-carrying Democrat Aunt, Nic didn't get her first choice: George W. Bush. Aaiiieee!

Ready to explore Cathedral Cavern outside Huntsville. Hence the deep dark hole behind us...

Looking back the other way: purportedly the largest cave opening in the world.

Stalactites and stalagmites in the main room.

Saturn 5 replica

A piece of Skylab--just a little crispy around the edges...

We got an A!
