It took a longer than I expected to get through the forest. I had to take several impromtu "showers" courtesy of Squirtle thanks to the stupid amount of times I got hit with string shot. I learned to look for the shift in the grass that comes before it and by the end I wasn't getting hit quite so many times.
With the help of both Squirtle and Cranidos I caught a little Caterpie, a really young one. They really aren't so bad, once you get over the string shot. I think they find it fun. As soon I stopped freaking out she stopped attempting to cocoon me.
The forest was eerily quiet, I was expecting to see more trainers, but I suppose they're all heading back to Viridian City for the festival using the free transport. I hope the gyms don't all close for this festival.
