So many questions and things to talk about in one post

Jan 19, 2018 11:17

Good morning everyone! I have several questions regarding different plush, particularly Sylveon and Alolan Vulpix that I don’t own. My wallet is still technically recovering from the holidays so I won’t be jumping to buy anything yet, but I’d still like to gather information to prioritize plush that I’m considering to add to my wish list. Anyway, ( Read more... )

Ahhh I knew I forgot one other plush I wanted to ask about, the Sanei Alolan Vulpix. Can you tell me how it compares to the PC Poke Plush and the big Crystal Season plush? It sort of looks like a mix between those two, with the fluffy head and tails like Crystal Season but smaller size like the Poke Plush. Is it minky? I know what you mean about the tails, I'm afraid to hug the Poke Plush for that reason lol.

And thank you so much for the visuals! The feelers do look different than the ones on my Pokemon Doll, but I'm guessing it has to do with how soft the feelers' fabric is when paint is used. Either that or I just got unlucky with their selection. I might get a Japanese version to see if there's a difference in paint quality since my current one is U.S.

the stripes on the 2014 Sylveon Pokedoll's feelers are painted on! The feelers themselves are made of-- I actually don't know what the fabric is called, it's like a slightly fuzzy microfiber but it's not microsuede. Maybe someone can help me out here, because not knowing what the fabric is called has been bugging me for a while. :1 (It's that stuff that attracts lint and pet hair like a magnet lmao)

The painted strips of color actually look very nice IMO. It's not a thick layer of color that sits on top of the fabric, instead it feels like it's "soaked in", so to speak, and doesn't feel like it would crack. I took a close-up shot so you can see for yourself here (warning, image is big!) The lines are also very crisp and clean.

Thanks for a better description! I wasn't sure how to describe the fabric!

I really wish I knew what that fabric is called in the collecting community! :| everyone knows minky and velboa, but what do we even call this stuff? I /think/ it's considered a microfiber fabric, but "microfiber" makes me think of those cloths you clean LCD screens with, or microsuede, neither of which is what this stuff is. It's such a minor thing, but it really bugs me lol

I wouldn't get your hopes up for HLJ restocking. I ordered my 1:1 through them and still haven't got past the ordering part. They sold more than they had, so my order is literally in limbo as they try to see if they can get more in to fulfill the orders made in Dec.

I'm not keeping my hopes up and I'm really bummed/mad about it. I'm hoping they do a second release because of popularity as I can't afford 100$+ aftermarket price...

Ouch, I feel bad for your experience. I would be mad about that too :( I hope that you eventually get a 1:1 though.

Guess that means no more stalking HLJ for me...

I have the 2014 Japanese and American Sylveon Pokedoll if you want to take a look at the pics below. It’s pretty much the same for the most part as the 2016 release.

These feelers are my cup of tea! Out of curiosity, is there any difference between the Japanese and American versions themselves? I remember reading somewhere that the Japanese and American Sylveon Poke Plush had differences and was wondering if the same were true for the original Sylveon Poke Dolls.

Yeah I honestly think they are a little different! The Japanese one is lighter in color and head is a little bigger compared to the American release. Also the American version seems to be more minky. Here they are together! (Both are cute but I like the Japanese version better ) (American left Japanese right)

The fuzzy Tomy Alola Vulpix plush has a firm-standing head and neck. It's not really floppy at all..!

As for the 1:1 scale Alola Vulpix plush, Hobby Link Japan isn't likely to restock in this case. When they restocked the plush for a short time, I purchased one through their site, but they didn't actually have enough stock to fill the orders. I recently contacted their customer service and was informed of this, below is their response. I suggest purchasing one from a Japanese seller on eBay -- there are currently some available at prices significantly lower than on PokeVault.

Glad to know I'm not the only one that got that response. Sucks for us though. =

Thank you for the tips! I was considering eBay too. Just paranoid about bootlegs, but if it's coming from Japan it would make sense that their product is real.
